About us:Brisbane Boys' College is an established GPS day and boarding school founded in 1902, dedicated to developing boys into worthy leaders and good citizens. Located just four kilometres from Brisbane's centre, we educate students from Prep to Year 12.About the Role: The Human Resources Officer is responsible for providing advice, guidance, and a high level of consistent human resource service to the College on the application of human resource functions. The Human Resources officer under the guidance of the Human Resources Manager supports the development of in-house policy, processes and guidelines. Reporting to the Human Resources Manager you will be the first point of contact for HR queries whilst supporting the administration of activities across the employee lifecycle. This includes processing of job advertisements on LinkedIn / SEEK and other recruitment platforms, coordinating interviews, creation of contract of employment, onboarding new employees, employee record management, employment variations and the preparation of internal announcements.This is a permanent, full-time role. You will bring:Strong HR expertise with a solid understanding of employment legislation, recruitment processes, and HR policy development.Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build trusted relationships across all levels of the College.High attention to detail and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines independently.A collaborative mindset, working closely with HR and other departments to ensure a cohesive and compliant approach to people management.A values-driven approach, committed to child safeguarding and positively supporting the College’s Christian ethos and community culture.Key Responsibilities:Manage and coordinate daily operational aspects of all recruitment and selection activities. Providing ongoing support within the recruitment framework. Facilitate appointment documentation, onboarding and orientation of new staff, including completion of mandatory training and attendance at compulsory induction programs. Work with new staff and department heads to ensure that appointees have a positive and productive start at the College.Maintaining accuracy and compliance of employee records and information. Assist in, and provide support for, organisational reviews, human resources procedures and policies, and change processes. Respond to general HR and employment-related enquiries, providing timely and accurate advice to staff and leaders.Prepare regular and ad hoc reports, data, and analysis on staffing matters for key internal and external stakeholders.Support the coordination of HR-related events.Work diligently to ensure the compliance of the College, its management, and staff, with legal, industrial, policy and procedural requirements, such as the Fair Work Act, Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act, Anti-Discrimination Act, PMSA Enterprise Agreement, and applicable Modern Awards. Collaborate with the finance department to input data into the payroll system.Responsible for HR administration tasks. Collaborate with the HR team to ensure a cohesive HR compliance approach. Other duties and projects as directed by the Human Resources Manager.Essential qualifications/skills/attributesQualification in human resource management or another relevant field.Sound knowledge and demonstrated experience of contemporary HR practices Knowledge of employment laws and regulations.High level of organisational skills, with demonstrated initiative and a proven ability to self-manage, set priorities, manage workloads and meet deadlines.
