ForestrySALocation: - VARIOUS -Job status: Short Term ContractEligibility: Open to EveryoneMount Lofty Ranges - 6-12 months availableAbout The RoleForestrySA is looking for energetic, committed individuals to join our Seasonal Operations Crew for the 2025–26 season, commencing from October 2025 for up to 12 months. What You’ll DoAs part of a rotating crew based in the Mount Lofty Ranges, you’ll support a wide range of seasonal operations. This includes both fire-related and general forest work. Your tasks will vary with the season and daily needs, but may include:

Taking part in fire preparedness and fire response, including standby, active suppression, and fuel reduction burningSupporting forest maintenance and land management work, such as: Clearing and maintaining firebreaks and trailsFence repairs and small construction tasksWeed control and pest managementAssisting with research plots and conservation projectsHelping maintain recreation sites and signageParticipating in safety briefings, crew meetings and on-the-job trainingUsing equipment safely, including vehicles, hand tools and machineryWorking respectfully with your team and following operational instructions and safety proceduresContributing to a positive, practical team cultureYou’ll spend most of your days outdoors, working in a variety of forest settings.

The work can be physically active and hands-on, with early starts and changing conditions, but you won’t be doing it alone. You’ll be part of a reliable, supportive crew that gets the job done together. Successful applicants will be required to work on a roster system which includes weekends, public holidays and after-hours, and will include light work, standby and fire response as required. Employment will be at the Level 2 salary of the ForestrySA Enterprise Agreement 2023 ($59,792 - $62,630 per annum), to be adjusted according to actual hours worked. Special ConditionsWill be required to participate in fire protection activities on a roster system including weekends and public holidays. A current class “C” driver’s licence is essential as is the willingness and ability to learn to safely operate a 4WD.

A current National Police Check is required. Physical fitness to meet AFAC fireground standards, including passing a task-based assessmentBasic Fire Fighting Level 1 (or willingness and ability to obtain)Operate and Maintain Chainsaw certificate (or willingness and ability to obtain)First Aid / Remote First Aid certificate (or willingness and ability to obtain)HR Truck Licence (Desirable)Experience operating machinery, plant or equipment (Desirable)Application InstructionsApplications are to be submitted through the I Work for SA website and must include the following:
