If you are enthusiastic about nurturing learners and contributing to our vibrant community, please review the job description below for details.STATEMENT OF DUTIESBasic DutiesThe International Baccalaureate (IB) Economics and Theory of Knowledge (TOK) Teacher is responsible for delivering high-quality, inquiry-based instruction aligned with the IB Diploma Programme and the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) and American Education Reaches Out (AERO) frameworks for Grades 6 through 10.This educator fosters curiosity, global awareness, and critical thinking by engaging students in exploring economic systems, decision-making processes, and the nature of knowledge itself.The teacher plays a key role in supporting Rabat American School’s mission to cultivate belonging, personal growth, and authentic, real-world learning experiences that empower students to take informed action in their communities and beyond.Duties & Responsibilities Instruction and Curriculum DevelopmentDesign and deliver engaging, concept-driven lessons in IB Economics and Theory of Knowledge that promote critical and analytical thinking.Align lesson plans and unit designs with the IB Diploma Programme standards and the C3 and AERO frameworks for social studies and economics.Incorporate inquiry-based learning, case studies, and debates to connect theoretical economic concepts with real-world applications.Integrate interdisciplinary links between economics, ethics, philosophy, and global issues, fostering deep connections across disciplines.Use diverse assessment strategies—both formative and summative—to measure and support student growth.Leverage technology tools to enhance engagement, collaboration, and research.Student Learning and SupportAssess and monitor student progress using multiple data sources and provide timely, constructive feedback.Support students’ critical thinking and reflective skills through guided inquiry and discussion.Serve as an Advisory teacher, supporting students’ personal, social, and academic development.Encourage students to apply economic reasoning and TOK perspectives to analyze local and global issues, fostering civic and ethical responsibility.Professional Collaboration and School EngagementContribute actively to department and school meetings, curriculum reviews, and professional learning communities.Engage in continuous professional growth through workshops, conferences, and collaborative reflection.Maintain open, professional communication with parents through conferences, progress reports, and digital platforms.Community Involvement and EnrichmentStrengthen partnerships with parents and the broader school community through outreach, transparency, and participation in school events.Support student-led initiatives, service learning, and extracurricular activities that extend classroom learning into action.Participate in the After-School Activities (ASA) Program by offering at least one activity per school year.Administrative and Supervisory ResponsibilitiesMeet or exceed the performance standards described in the Rabat American School Faculty Handbook.Supervise students during non-classroom times to ensure a safe and respectful school environment.Coordinate and support the work of instructional aides and assistants when assigned.Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, and assessments in accordance with school policies.QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREDBachelor’s degree in Economics, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).Valid teaching credential or recognized teaching qualification.Minimum of three years of successful secondary-level teaching experience.Previous experience teaching in an international or cross-cultural environment strongly preferred.Familiarity with both International Baccalaureate pedagogy and American-style curricular frameworks (C3 and AERO).Skills & AbilitiesDeep understanding of International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme Economics and Theory of Knowledge curricula and assessment frameworks.Strong grasp of the College, Career, and Civic Life (C3) Framework and the American Education Reaches Out (AERO) standards for economics and social studies.Expertise in inquiry-based and concept-driven instruction that fosters critical thinking and creativity.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Proficiency in educational technology for research, collaboration, and classroom engagement.Commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and student-centered learning environment.Ability to collaborate effectively within a multicultural professional community.Supervisory RelationshipThe teacher reports to the Secondary School Principal.
