IEM is looking for a Full Time- Electrical Engineer to join our Disaster Recovery team. The Electrical Engineer supports the design, review, and implementation of CHP, PV, BESS, and microgrid systems. Responsibilities include validating electrical designs, ensuring code compliance, reviewing project documentation, and coordinating with teams to resolve technical issues. The role also provides ongoing technical support and assists with project planning, permitting, and closeout. Primary Location: Live within a commutable distance to Guaynabo, PR.  Essential Functions Develop and implement plans to monitor design and permitting processes. Review, evaluate, and provide technical feedback on: Project implementation plansDraw requests and change ordersAmendments to subrecipient or grant agreementsBudget revisionsProject closeout documentationValidate electrical system designs and schematics for CHP, PV, BESS, and microgrid systems. Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including NEC, IEEE, and NERC. Analyze technical documentation such as single-line diagrams, load calculations, and interconnection drawings. Confirm designs align with safety standards, permitting requirements, and overall project scope. Coordinate with internal teams and external consultants to resolve technical discrepancies.
Maintain organized records of design reviews, compliance assessments, and project approvals. Provide technical support during project planning, scheduling, and coordination phases. Assist the Project Manager and Construction Oversight Manager during project closeout and monitoring phases to ensure intended electrical system outcomes are achieved. Deliver ongoing technical assistance to subrecipients and project beneficiaries throughout all project phases. Minimum QualificationsExperience: Five (5) years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on distributed energy systems. Three (3) years of experience in project management. Familiarity with federally funded programs and related compliance/reporting requirements. Degree:
Bachelor’s degree in Electric EngineeringProfessional licenses and/or certifications related to required degree, valid in Puerto Rico. Bilingual: Fluent English and Spanish verbal and written communication skills. Must be working locally within Puerto Rico. Knowledge of both state and federal permitting processes.
