Temporary position at IMS: We are looking for a Communications officer with all-round MENA insight. If so, read on!At IMS, we are looking for the right person to step in to this role on a temporary basis from mid/end August to 31 December 2025 as focal point for MENA in IMS’ communications unit to help us produce and promote stories that illustrate our work and that of our partners and get noticed by the right audiences.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of creating compelling written and visual content for different digital platforms; in-depth knowledge about MENA with a focus on relevant human rights and political dynamics in the region; and hands-on experience with putting a variety of social media to effective use. Job SummaryEngage with colleagues and IMS partner organisations to identify, prioritise and produce compelling content promoting the work of IMS and our partners. Develop engaging content for a variety of purposes and platforms, targeting multiple audiences. Work with our fundraising team around newsletters, campaign content and public events.
Qualifications and ExperienceEssential Minimum five years of relevant working experience. Outstanding command of written English. A proven track record of successfully engaging multiple audiences in diverse contexts across a variety of platforms. Up-to-date insights into social media best practices. Experience working in an international environment and a corresponding level of cultural sensitivity. DesirableA good understanding of questions related to media freedom in particular and human rights in general and/or experience from the NGO or non-profit sector. Good command of written and spoken Danish. Experience working with or supporting fundraising efforts.
Experience with pitching stories and commentaries to media outlets. Place of employment: The position is based at IMS’ HQ in Copenhagen, Denmark, and requires weekly office presence with possibility of partially working from home.
