Industrial Designer /Senior Designer/ Concept Designer

DescriptionIn this role, you will have the opportunity to shape and innovate the future of our product line, combining aesthetics, functionality, and user experience to create exceptional designs. The role will require creative and innovative product design, primarily specialising in sheet metal.Duties and responsibilities The employee accepts that he/she may be required to carry out any other duties and responsibilities as required by management based on operational requirements, such as:Research and developmentConcept design and developmentIdentify trends, issues, or areas for improvement.DesignGood understanding of EngineeringGenerate 3D models and detailed drawings using CAD software, with a focus on sheet metal forming, bending, cutting, and assembly techniques.Strong understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes, including cutting, bending, stamping, welding, and forming.Ability to read & interpret engineering design and schematics with precision and accuracy.Collaboration and documentation will be required on all projects.Manufacturing support will be required for the R&D Assembly Team.Manufacturing data.Project Development and ManagementWork closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, procurement, and quality control, to ensure designs can be produced efficiently and meet project timelines.Track product design progress and communicate project updates to relevant stakeholders.PrototypingTechnical supportFactory supportCreating technical dataCreating fitment instructionsCreating BOMsCreating Assembly InstructionsMaintain detailed records of work processes, changes, and outcomes.Testing and PrototypingWork with the engineering and R&D team to develop prototypes and test the product functionality, structural integrity, and manufacturability.Analyse and incorporate feedback from testing and manufacturing teams to refine designs and resolve any issues.Ensure final products meet performance criteria, quality standards, and customer expectations.Compliance and StandardsEnsure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the latest trends and advancements in sheet metal design and manufacturing techniques.RequirementsRequired Experience and QualificationsProficient in both SolidWorks (required)  and/or Solid Edge (beneficial)7yrs + experience in 3D modellingSheet Metal Experience is highly beneficialNational Diploma: 3D Design, Industrial Design, Sheet Metal Specialist, Mechanical Engineering, or BTech: Mechanical Engineering (Specifically looking for a technically qualified individual).Experience in overlanding / outdoor product and vehicle accessory production design is beneficial.Soft SkillsStrong attention to detail and accuracy in technical documentation.Excellent Communication skills for effective cross-functional collaboration.Analytical and problem-solving abilities, particularly in addressing design challenges related to manufacturability and material use.Able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Able to self-manage and seek out feedback from team members.Teamwork, interpersonal relationships, and cooperation.Time management to meet project deadlines.Please forward your CV to applications@alu-cab.co.za
