This role is critical in driving production efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and maintaining high standards of quality and reliability. Key Responsibilities Collaborate with product design engineers to review designs for manufacturability, understand performance specifications, and translate design data into efficient manufacturing processes. Lead formal process validation and production handover to ensure seamless integration into production workflows. Design and test innovative solutions to enhance production capabilities and capacity. Optimize processes to minimize resource requirements, reduce cycle times, improve output quality, and ensure consistent reliability for high-volume manufacturing. As the custodian of the manufacturing process, you will: Maintain, support, and upgrade manufacturing processes to meet growth targets. Transfer technical know-how from the design team to production, fostering a deep understanding of the product's design and manufacturing across the business. Leverage methodologies such as LEAN Manufacturing, Theory of Constraints, and Six Sigma to drive continuous improvement in both manufacturing and business processes. Additional Responsibilities Provide technical support and troubleshooting for tools, equipment, and production processes. Lead training and improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and team capabilities. KEY TASKS Understand product design and its performance requirements. Understand technical calibration procedures and product health checking methods. Design, implement, and optimize manufacturing processes for new and existing products. Strong understanding of CAD design tools, software integration, and ERP systems. In depth understanding of business engineering practices. Basic understanding of materials sciences, machining processes and test procedures (destructive/non-destructive). Understanding of Aerospace New-Space methodologies relating to manufacturing, operations and business. Collaborate, analyse and provide product design change requests in the preliminary design review process to ensure product design for manufacturing and scalability is achieved. Research and define processes to use to manufacture products at scale based on business capacity requirements. Design new product manufacturing processes, process layouts, and capacities; define all required technologies, equipment, and tools necessary for integration into current processes and facilities. Develop prototypes and test manufacturing techniques to validate new approaches. Complete Preliminary manufacturing process Reviews with production and operations team to optimize production design process. Conduct a process risk assessment related to safety, teamwork, quality, on-time delivery, and efficiency. Procure all relevant materials, equipment, and tools for process validation and initial production runs. Implement and run pilot manufacturing processes to validate the new developed process. Commission production processes. Hands-on design, develop, make, test, optimise, implement and run at design capacity prior to hand over Create detailed process documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams and standard operating procedures. Train production staff and stakeholders on new processes and continuous improvement techniques. Track Production process skills, knowledge and tools. Track manufacturing readiness for all processes being developed. Schedule and lead manufacturing process review meetings, process validation meetings and handover meetings. Track production process performance for maintenance purposes. Conducting and reporting manufacturing process maintenance review every 3 months. Drive waste reduction, cycle time improvement, and productivity enhancements using Lean principles and Six Sigma methodologies. Reviewing, tracking and reporting of manufacturing/production process changes. Identifying, facilitating and tracking of production/manufacturing process continuous improvement projects. Creating and submitting of project charters for continuous improvement projects to be reviewed. Plan and implement continuous improvement projects to optimize manufacturing/production processes.
