Now Hiring: Technology Platform Lead – Global Markets (Finance & Risk Tech)Location: Sandton, Johannesburg (Hybrid)Are you a seasoned technology leader with deep expertise across Global Markets, Finance, and Risk platforms? We’re looking for an influential Technology Platform Lead to drive strategic delivery, platform stability, and innovation across a complex, high-impact technology environment.In this senior leadership role, you’ll guide a specialist cross-functional team responsible for the full software development lifecycle across multiple asset classes. You’ll play a key role in shaping platform strategy, elevating operational excellence, and partnering with business stakeholders to build world-class Finance and Risk technology capabilities.What You’ll Do• Lead a high-performing platform team focused on end-to-end delivery across Finance and Risk technology domains.• Navigate regulatory, operational, and technological shifts to enable a seamless, cost-efficient trading experience.• Build and maintain strong relationships with senior business stakeholders.• Champion business transformation and foster an inclusive, high-performance culture.• Manage budgets, resources, and performance against strategic objectives.• Oversee IT governance, risk management, and compliance across all platforms.• Ensure platform stability, maintenance, proactive monitoring, and incident response.• Contribute to long-term technology strategy and innovation initiatives.• Drive continuous improvement through standards, frameworks, and future-fit practices.• Track and act on KPIs impacting technology performance and risk exposure.• Provide thought leadership and assess emerging technologies for adoption.• Select and manage technology vendors, suppliers, and third-party integrations.• Collaborate with product, finance, risk, and architecture teams to make build-vs-buy decisions.• Represent technology to external partners, stakeholders, and potential recruits.What You Need to Succeed• 10+ years’ experience in senior technical leadership roles, ideally within Global Markets or Investment Banking tech environments.• 5+ years of people leadership.• Strong background across software architecture, integration, APIs, data warehousing, testing, and production management.• Deep understanding of the trading lifecycle, asset classes, and associated risk management.• Experience with proactive monitoring and alerting toolsets.• Knowledge of integration and workflow tools (e.g., Control-M, Tibco, Informatica), reporting and market data systems.• Proficiency in mainstream programming languages (Java, C#, Python) and databases.• Strong grasp of Agile delivery and project/program management.• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.• A passion for coaching, mentoring, and continuous learning.Qualifications• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Technology, Accounting, or Investments (a blend of these is highly beneficial).• Postgraduate business qualification advantageous.If you’re a strategic technology leader with the ability to blend engineering excellence, platform governance, and business partnership in a dynamic Global Markets environment, we’d love to connect.Stefan PretoriusRecruiterstpretorius@communicate.co.za
