Position OverviewThis position is responsible for establishing, implementing, and managing the hospital’s information technology systems from the commissioning stage through ongoing operations. This position oversees the planning, installation, testing, and integration of IT infrastructure, ensuring that all technology systems are fully functional and aligned with the hospital’s, clinical, administrative, and operational needs.During the commissioning phase, this position works closely with project teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure timely setup of hospital information systems, network infrastructure, data centers, and communication systems. Once operational, the role transitions to maintaining system reliability, security, and efficiency while leading the IT team in delivering responsive technical support and continuous improvement.Key OutcomesSuccessful commissioning and deployment of all hospital IT systems within projects timelines and quality standards.Seamless integration of clinical and non-clinical information systems to support patient care and hospital operations.Reliable, secure, and compliant IT environments in accordance with health data protection standardsEfficient day-to-day IT operations with minimal system downtime.Competent and responsive IT team supporting hospital – wide technology needs.Primary Duties and ResponsibilitiesDuring the Commissioning phaseParticipate in the planning and design of IT infrastructure, ensuring alignment with hospital requirement and best practices.Coordinate installation and configuration of network systems, servers, hospital information systems (HIS), EMR/HER, communications systems and other technology platforms.Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and consultants to ensure timely delivery and integration of IT systems.Conduct system testing, validation, and commissioning to ensure readiness for hospital operations.Develop IT operational manuals, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and system documentation. Support staff training on hospital IT systems prior to hospital opening.Post-commissioning/operational phase:Supervise and coordinate the IT unit’s daily operations.Ensure system reliability, cyber security, and data integrity across all hospital systems.Oversee preventive maintenance, backups, and disaster recovery plans.Manage helpdesk support and resolve technical issues promptly.Maintain accurate IT asset inventory and manage procurement of IT equipment and licenses.Monitor performance of hospital systems and recommend improvements or upgrades.Ensure compliance with hospital policies, data privacy, and healthcare IT standards.Lead, train, and evaluate IT staff to ensure high performance and professional growth.Collaborate with hospital management and clinical teams to align IT strategies with organizational goals.Manage IT budgets and vendor relationship effectively. Selection CriteriaEssentialBachelor’s degree in Information Technology, computer science, or related field.Min 3 years of relevant experience in healthcare, hospital, or large-scale infrastructure projects.Proven experience in hospital commissioning or healthcare IT system setup is highly desirable.Strong knowledge in hospital IT systems and network infrastructureProficient in system integration, network administration, and cybersecurity practices.Knowledge of healthcare data protection, regulatory compliance, and IT governance standards.Excellent project coordination, troubleshooting, and problem solving skills.
