Job Description Job Summary The Electrical Inspector will ensure the contractors are compliant with the contract documents, coordinate on a daily basis with the other teams to document and verify the quality and quantity of work performed by the Contractor and process the incoming Inspection Requests and technical submittals, and perform the necessary actions. Read and understand electrical package contract documents, drawings, specifications, and health & safety requirements, including all revisions and updates. Ensure the contractor’s compliance with project specifications, standards, and approved drawings through inspections, testing, and verification of electrical installations. Monitor and inspect installation of electrical infrastructure systems, including street lighting, LV/MV networks, feeder pillars, substations, duct banks, cabling, and grounding systems. Review and verify materials delivered to site for compliance with approved material submittals and ensure proper storage and handling procedures. Undertake all site supervision and inspections when required or instructed by the Resident Engineer (RE) or Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE). Maintain accurate daily records of contractor’s manpower, equipment, and electrical work progress. Document all site observations, including activities, locations, personnel, and equipment involved, as well as any deviations or non-conformances identified. Report and follow up on material delivery schedules, installation progress, and any site instructions from the RE/ARE. Implement all project quality control and assurance procedures related to electrical works. Assist in reviewing method statements, ITPs, and shop drawings for compliance with project specifications. Witness testing and commissioning of electrical systems, including insulation resistance, continuity, high-voltage testing, and functionality of lighting and power systems. Verify cable routes, terminations, and connection points as per approved drawings and standards. Ensure all works comply with DEWA and relevant Dubai Authorities’ standards and regulations. Coordinate with civil, mechanical, and utilities inspectors to avoid conflicts between electrical and other infrastructure services. Ensure implementation of proper safety procedures and report any unsafe practices or violations immediately. Prepare and maintain inspection reports, NCRs, site observations, and WIRs in accordance with project quality documentation. Participate in joint inspections with contractors and consultants for completed electrical works prior to approval. Assist in verifying as-built drawings and O&M manuals prior to project handover. Monitor testing of electrical cables, street lighting poles, feeder pillars, and control panels in coordination with the testing and commissioning teams. Support the Resident Engineer in reviewing contractor progress reports and verifying electrical quantities for payment certification. Qualifications Relevant electrical certification or degree in Electrical Engineering Proven experience in electrical inspections, with a strong understanding of electrical systems and codes Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications Strong communication skills, both verbal and written Ability to work efficiently under general supervision Familiarity with safety regulations and procedures in the electrical field Experience with quality assurance tracking and reporting Proficiency in using inspection tools and software Valid UAE work permit or eligibility to obtain one Willingness to work in various field conditions and potentially at heights Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make informed decisions Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated on industry standards Additional Information About AECOM AECOM is proud to offer comprehensive benefits to meet the diverse needs of our employees.
