As our Instructional Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing engaging and effective learning solutions and instructional experiences for our global employees. You will collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to determine learning objectives, develop content, and evaluate the effectiveness of learning experiences. Deliverables could include: eLearning modules, instructor-led courses (including facilitator guide and participant materials), job aids and infographics, short videos, PowerPoint presentations, etc. If career growth is important to you, we not only know how to help you with that, it’s what we love to do: https://youtu.be/PUqzuWryYcU.WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING (% of Time)Content development (85%)Design training plans and create scalable learning content to:Close knowledge gapsAddress needs as identified in job/task analysisDrive behavior changeImprove employee performanceApply instructional design theories, adult learning best practices, and methods to design, pilot and launch engaging learning activities and compelling course content that enhances retention and knowledge transfer.Utilize various authoring tools (e.g. Camtasia, Articulate) to rapidly build learning experiences that are interactive, effective, and applicable to varying audiences.Develop effective knowledge, skill, and job performance-based assessmentsAssist other departments, as needed, with the development of new training content such as digital presentations, hands-on exercises, and other teaching aidsAssist with Learning Management System (LMS) management and administration for all departments.Collaborate and build relationships (15%)Partner with US and Vietnam training managers to understand project needsBuild and maintain valued relationships with key stakeholders and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).Closely partner, collaborate, and knowledge-share with other members of Simpson Strong-Tie training departments to continuously improve existing learning programs.DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEIf you can do everything listed above, you’ve got what it takes. The below skills and experiences will also help you be successful in this role:1 to 3 years of instructional design and content development experience required.Instructional design and content development experience supporting a global workforce.Deep experience designing and developing learning programs across various delivery mediums and content types (mobile learning, e-learning, video, gamification, virtual learning, live simulation, and live classroom).Knowledge of ADDIE model, adult learning theories and current instructional design methodologies.Working knowledge and application experience using Camtasia, Articulate 360, Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere, Captivate, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop), and other industry benchmark applications and online multimedia authoring tools.HTML5, xAPI, mobile learning, and adaptive learning experience desired.Experience working with Microsoft Teams.Strong oral and written communication skills and diverse experience working with internal customers and stakeholders in both live and virtual environments.
