Job Description: Instrumentation TechnicianLocation: Yekepa, Liberia / Site-based and rotationalJob Type: Full-time / Fixed-term1. Role PurposeThe Instrumentation Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing all instrumentation and control equipment across the iron ore concentrator. The role ensures accurate and reliable measurement and control of critical process variables to support safe, stable, and efficient plant operation.2. Key ResponsibilitiesInstrumentation Maintenance & Calibration Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on instruments including:Pressure, flow, level, temperature transmitters Density meters, weightometers, belt scales Control valves, actuators, positioners Vibration and condition monitoring sensors Carry out routine calibration, loop checks, and functional tests. Maintain calibration records and ensure compliance with maintenance plans. Troubleshooting & RepairDiagnose faults in instrumentation, control loops, and field cabling. Resolve issues with signal integrity, I/O modules, and wiring faults. Assist in troubleshooting associated PLC/DCS/SCADA issues. Commissioning & InstallationAssist in installation, commissioning, and testing of new instrumentation and control systems. Interpret P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams, and instrument datasheets. Support project teams with upgrades, expansions, and shutdown work. Process Control SupportWork with the automation/SCADA engineer to maintain stable control loops. Verify correct operation of instruments after maintenance or process changes. Ensure instruments provide accurate, real-time data to the control system. Documentation & ReportingComplete accurate job cards, maintenance logs, and equipment history entries. Maintain inventories of spares, calibration tools, and test equipment. Update drawings and calibration sheets when changes are made. Safety & ComplianceFollow all safety procedures, including LOTO, permit-to-work, and confined space rules. Ensure all instrument work complies with electrical and process safety standards. Participate in safety meetings, JHAs, and incident investigations. 3. Qualifications & ExperienceEssentialTrade Certificate, Technical Diploma or equivalent in Instrumentation, Mechatronics, or E&I. 5-10 years experience in instrumentation maintenance in mining, minerals processing, oil & gas, or heavy industry. Strong knowledge of industrial transmitters, control valves, and process measurement systems. Ability to interpret technical drawings (P&IDs, loop drawings, wiring diagrams). Experience using calibration tools (HART communicator, multifunction calibrators, test gauges, etc.). Basic understanding of PLC/DCS/SCADA interaction with field instruments. DesirableExperience working in a concentrator or continuous process plant. Familiarity with Siemens PCS7, WinCC, or similar control systems. Knowledge of Profibus/Profinet or industrial communications. Commissioning experience on new or expanded plants. 4.
