OverviewThe Intake & Assessment Specialist plays a crucial role in welcoming new participants into WINS Employment Services programs. This position is responsible for conducting comprehensive assessments to determine participant readiness for employment, identifying barriers, and connecting individuals to appropriate supports within WINS. Operating through a trauma-informed and strengths-based approach, the Intake & Assessment Specialist ensures that each participant begins their employment journey with a clear, personalized plan and access to the resources they need to succeed. This role is essential to WINS’ mission of helping Calgarians overcome barriers to employment and achieve long-term independence.Duties And ResponsibilitiesConduct Employment Readiness Assessments (ERAs) to evaluate participant strengths, needs, and barriers to employment. Facilitate intake interviews and determine participant eligibility and program fit using trauma-informed and strengths-based approaches. Collect and verify personal, employment, and educational information to establish individualized service plans. Identify participant barriers such as childcare, transportation, language, and mental health needs, and coordinate appropriate referrals. Maintain accurate, confidential participant records aligned with FOIP and organizational policies. Collaborate with Employment Support Workers and Coordinators to create Individual Plans and monitor client progress. Conduct orientation sessions for new clients, explaining program expectations and available supports. Track and report assessment outcomes and program data in accordance with funder requirements. RequirementsEducationMinimum of a post-secondary diploma related to education, social work, training, human services, or psychology. A combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. ExperienceMinimum of 1 year of experience in a similar role in a non-for-profit/charity setting with a strong focus or understanding of adult learning (such as career bridging, employment readiness, and skills development). Solid and positive experience with cultural diversity and inclusion in a programs’ setting. Experience working with marginalized and diverse populations and an understanding of issues that may impact women and their family in crisis and/or in low-income situations. Experience completing Employment Readiness Assessments (ERA’s) and participant intakes is an asset. Proficient in Microsoft Office 365: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook Able to work evening shifts and occasional weekends. Must have access to reliable transportation. Able to provide satisfactory results of a Vulnerable Sector Search background check through Calgary Police Services or RCMP Eligible to legally work in Canada.
