Join us.Job DescriptionAECOM Buildings + Places Canada in Markham is looking for an experienced electrical engineer to join our team, where you'll play a major role in the electrical design for projects that shape how communities live, move, and thrive—from transit and civic buildings to commercial, education and water/wastewater facilities.Your RoleAs an electrical engineer on our Buildings + Places team, you will:Develop various types of reports including schematic design, design development, building assessment, and design build/assist scope of work documentsPrepare electrical drawings and specificationImplement design concept through the preparation and production of drawings to detail lighting, power, fire alarm, and specialty low voltage systems rough-ins (i.e. telecomm., intrusion control, security, CCTV, door access controls, etc.)Provide technical and administrative support through all phases of the projectConduct necessary research to gather industry, field, and project specific dataEnsure design conforms with all applicable codes and standardsIntegrate advanced tools and standards—leverage SKM, ETAP, Revit, AutoCAD, and ensure designs meet OESC, OBC, IEEE, NFPA, LEED, Net Zero guidelinesCollaborate with other disciplines architecture, mechanical, structural, urban design, sustainability to deliver integrated solutionsProvide client and construction support—serve as technical advisor, review submittals, respond to RFIs, support commissioning, and ensure timely deliveryRespond to contractors technical queries and attending site meetings as well as performing site reviews complete with reportsReview shop drawing to ensure their compliance with the project requirementIssue SI and CCN to the construction team to mitigate technical issuesReview Contractor`s change quotation and progress billing reportsQualificationsMinimum Requirements:In order to be considered for this position, candidates must possess no less than:University Degree in Electrical Engineering + four (4) years of experience designing HVAC and plumbing for commercial, institutional, and light industrial facilities. Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario, in good standingPreferred Requirements:Prefer an individual with 10+ years of experience designProficiency in system studies—short circuit, arc flash, protective device coordination using SKM or ETAPStrong knowledge of Canadian electrical codes and standardsDemonstrated experience with power distribution, lighting, fire alarm, and building systemsStrong interdisciplinary collaboration skillsAble to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the sameSound judgment supported by excellent technical, analytical and problem-solving skillsWell organized, self-directed work habits with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and schedule tasks managing multiple projects simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
