We are looking for a conscientious and adaptable individual with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join the team in the Pharmacy Department.The candidate must be an enthusiastic, motivated band five (or working towards) pharmacy technician, with an ability to multitask and work across several sections. Candidates would ideally have previous experience of providing a medicines management service to a clinical area and hold an accredited checking technician qualification, although we are happy to discuss applications from individuals working towards these. The role will be varied, covering acute wards and dispensary sessions at YYF.We are a forward thinking and innovative department. Pharmacy enjoys excellent multidisciplinary links within the Health Board and we deliver clinical services to a wide range of specialities and are committed to the professional development of our strong team.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this role; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.Main duties of the jobWe are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and patient-focused pharmacy technician with good communication and team working skills. This is an exciting opportunity for you to have a role in direct patient care with opportunities to develop your knowledge and clinical skills.The post covers a wide range of medicines management roles including: drug history taking and medicines reconciliation on wards, TTH Transcribing and final accuracy checking within dispensary and ward environment.As YYF is a training site for pharmacy technicians the candidate should have a background knowledge and experience of education / training / mentorship to contribute to the delivery of this agenda. The role will involve supporting the training of junior members of staff to complete medicines management competencies. In addition, there will be opportunities to become an Educational Supervisor for Pre-Registration Pharmacy Technicians.You must have a dispensing qualification – BTEC, NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences (or equivalent) and you must be a registered technician (or working towards qualification and registration by February 2026) with a GPhC Membership Number to apply for this post.You will participate in weekend and bank holiday rotas as required.Working for our organisationAneurin Bevan University Health Board is a multi-award-winning NHS organisation with a passion for caring.
