Internship – 3D Bone Marrow Niche Modelling for Drug Screening📍 Leiden, The Netherlands | 🧪 8–9 months, starting November 2025About Crown Bioscience Netherlands (CBNL)Crown Bioscience Netherlands B.V. (CBNL) is a fast-growing and innovative contract research organization (CRO) specializing in advanced 3D cell culture-based assays that accelerate pre-clinical drug discovery and development. Located in Leiden, we run an active R&D program to maintain our leading position as a provider of next-generation cell-based studies.About the projectPre-clinical in vitro screening of hematological cancers such as Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) and Multiple Myeloma (MM) requires a complex microenvironment that mimics the human bone marrow. Within the Bone Marrow Niche (BMN) Platform, we develop 3D hydrogel-based co-culture models using automated systems, cutting-edge high-content imaging (HCI), and bioinformatics analysis to evaluate drug efficacy and toxicity.The internshipWe are looking for a motivated and curious student to join our BMN Platform team. As an intern, you will contribute to the development of advanced 3D cell models of the human bone marrow and support the expansion of the BMN platform towards toxicity studies.Your work will involve:Establishing complex 3D cell cultures combining multiple primary cell types;Performing cell isolation/enrichment and biobanking;Operating liquid handling systems and conducting immunostaining/labelling;Applying flow cytometry and advanced microscopy techniques;Supporting optimization and validation of the bone marrow niche pipeline.Who you areBachelor’s or Master’s student in Immunology, Cell Biology, Oncology or related field;Experience with 2D/3D mammalian cell culture (cell lines or primary cells) is a strong plus;Familiarity with imaging, immunofluorescence (IF), and flow cytometry is a plus;Proficient in English;Legal resident of the European Union;Eager to learn, detail-oriented, and passionate about innovative research.What we offerA dynamic and international R&D environment;Hands-on experience with cutting-edge 3D cell culture and imaging technologies;Mentorship from experienced scientists;The opportunity to make a real impact in pre-clinical cancer research.Interested?If you’re excited to take part in innovative research at the intersection of cell biology and oncology, apply now and join our team in Leiden!
