Accounting Analyst IVLocation : Toronto, ONDuration: 15 months Responsibilities:Production:• Ensure accounting treatment for securities are in line with regulatory requirements across multiple accounting bases (e.g. IFRS, USGAAP, Statutory, and Tax).• Manage and oversight of various month end, quarter end and annual close processes. As well as other day-to-day operational type functions related to cash/suspense, securities transfers, corporate actions, impairments, and other general inquiries.• Assist with analytics on investment income and invested assets.• Coach and train team members.• Lead and/or participate in special projects and initiatives.• Collaborate with various business partners such as Trade Operations, Cash Management and Custody Services, GWAM Finance, Asset Liability Management, Investment Systems and Group Controllers for day-to-day activities as well as on special transactions / projects.Service quality and risk management:• Work with Controls Center of Excellence (COE) and Internal and External Auditors for SOX walkthroughs, detailed testing, and annual audits. Ensure requests are addressed in a timely manner.• Perform detail user acceptance testing for system enhancements and ensure any exceptions are properly reported and resolved within a timely manner.• Ensure processes are executed in accordance with the developed controls for SOX and audit purposes and maintain properly documented policies and procedures.Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills:1. Accounting designation (e.g. CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) or 5+ years or relevant experience (investment accounting).2. Knowledge of new IFRS9 standards as it relates to investment accounting.3. Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate with team members as well as with various teams across the organization.4. Excellent analytical and communication skills.5. Ability to coach and train fellow team members.Nice-To-Have Skills:1.
