For more information, visit FederatedHermes.comMain Function of the role: Analyse and price operating, financial and ESG risks of global companies in a handful of benchmark sectors for the purpose of investing in a suite of high yield and investment grade credit products through a variety of securities, including bonds, credit default swaps, and loans. Make investment recommendations for portfolio sector and company positioning as risks and/or values change. Key task and responsibilities:Initiate and maintain research coverage on credits on a global basis.Develop investment views by researching and analysing sector and issuer-level news, earnings, ESG related developments. Build and maintain financial models, comparable tables and relative value spreadsheets (e.g., within the capital structure and among peers and across credit instruments). Assess and price ESG risks via our proprietary ESG pricing tools. Assess valuations of various credit instruments across capital structure and produce investment recommendations. Provide updates on issuer related developments daily and present investment analysis at our bi-weekly investment committees. Assign and maintain investment scores (credit, ESG, value) for covered credits and proactively make investment recommendations for trades and to changes of portfolio positioning based on changes in either credit risks, valuation, or anomalies in the market. Research, analyse, form views, and assign sector investment scores. Engage with company management/investor relations at conferences, on earnings calls, and participate in engagement meetings with companies along with Fixed Income and EOS (Equity Ownership Services) engagers. Attend and contribute to the various Federated Hermes Fixed Income meetings/investment process including: Morning Meeting; Bi-Weekly Credit Committee; Sector Meetings; Barometer; Multi-Asset Credit Strategy meeting, firmwide market update calls etc. Maintain an active dialog with other analysts, engagers, traders, and portfolio managers to assess and react to changes in news and events.Participate in firmwide cross asset collaboration initiatives, including FHOne, EOS on engagement activity, equity teams on sectors and companies as well as cross asset sector meetings and publications. Speak with the sell-side as needed (comparison of views, attending conferences, etc).Make themselves available to clients, potential clients as needed.Contribute to the Fixed Income Team’s body of public commentary and investment newsletters. Ensure adherence to and upkeep of appropriate record keeping and filing systems, in line with company policy, to ensure an adequate record of the application of the decision-making process and in particular having regard to the FCA principles for businesses and individuals. Experienced Required: Familiarity with analysing investment opportunities across different currencies and geographies, including European, North American and Emerging Market issuers.Numerate, accurate, reliable and a good team player.Successful completion and self-management of projects.High standard of communication (oral and written) and team working skills.Demonstrable experience in taking on investment risk.MBA and/or CFA designation would be ideal but are not required.Minimum Experience Required: Relevant market experience – likely to have a minimum of 3 years of experience in credit research, either from another buy-side organization, an investment bank/research firm, or credit rating agency.Familiarity with different credit products, including bonds, loans and credit default swaps.Highly computer literate and able to develop and maintain detailed financial models in Microsoft Excel. Candidate Profile:The Fixed Income team of Federated Hermes is looking for a credit analyst with experience in analysing both investment grade and high yield capital structures, and assessing value across debt instruments (e.g., cash, CDS, etc). The candidate should demonstrate confidence in their skills, present well and be able to represent the Fixed Income Team in various situations—e.g., management meetings, investor conferences, meetings with the sell-side. The candidate should also show demonstrable comfort with taking risk by way of linking credit and ESG views to security selection and investment recommendations. We seek a team player who is willing to support the growth and development of our Fixed Income business. Proficient in the basic tools of financial analysis (Excel, Bloomberg—news monitoring tools, yield analysis, relative value analysis, PowerPoint). Ability to read/understand/analyze with a high degree competency the financial statements of corporates.
