ISIF prioritises the use of its capital and resources to address strategic challenges and focus its efforts on making transformational investments across its impact themes of Climate, Housing and Enabling Investments, Indigenous Businesses, and Food and Agriculture and Marine.Role SummaryThis role sits within the Portfolio Management Division of ISIF, the team responsible for Investment Monitoring, ESG and wider impact, Risk management, Asset allocation and Portfolio analytics for the Fund. Specifically, this role sits within the Irish Portfolio Monitoring team.When ISIF closes an investment, the monitoring of the investment transitions from the ISIF deal team to the Irish Portfolio Monitoring team. The successful candidate will be assigned a portfolio of Irish investments and will be expected to monitor the economic and financial performance of each of these investments. The role will offer exposure to a broad range of industries and asset classes including venture capital, growth equity, private equity and private credit. The role will have a high level of investment exposure from the outset, and successful candidates can expect to be an integral member of a team focused on one of ISIF’s four priority areas (i.e. Climate, Housing and Enabling Investments, Indigenous Businesses, and Food and Agriculture). Investments are normally made either directly to the company (debt and/or equity) or through a fund structure.All members of the ISIF team are required to remain flexible to respond to the dynamic nature of the ISIF mandate – this may require team members to apply their skills to other types of investment, outside of their core areas of responsibility, from time to time.Principal AccountabilitiesThe Investment Manager will be required to work collaboratively within the Irish Portfolio Monitoring team and also among the wider ISIF deal teams.Activities will include:Manage a portfolio of Irish investments including:On-going monitoring and review of investee reports;Preparation and presentation of review papers to ISIF Management Committees;Preparation of year end valuation and impairment review papers;Attending investee company meetings and advisory committees as required; andReview and progress investee requests.Producing key reports for Management and Investment Committees.Managing ad-hoc projects as required to provide portfolio insights to colleagues, Investment Committee and stakeholders.Assisting and inputting into process improvements within the Irish Portfolio Monitoring team to embed best practices.Reviewing output of junior colleagues.Building effective relationships with wider ISIF team, NTMA support departments (legal, risk and compliance), Investee companies and co-investors as required.Knowledge And ExperienceThe ideal candidate will:Have a relevant third level qualification.6+ years’ relevant experience in investment management, portfolio management, or similar environment (private equity, venture capital, corporate finance, commercial/corporate banking, accountancy etc).A strong track record in monitoring and/or investing. Technically strong across a range of sub-sectors and/or products but prior sectoral experience with real assets and / or commercial debt / lending will be a distinct advantage. Demonstrate a keen and well-informed interest in investment and in developing knowledge and expertise.Experience of relationship management with investees and/or other third parties.SkillsExperience structuring and managing debt and equity investments, as well as familiarity with fund structures.Prior exposure to different sectors, with an ability to rapidly become knowledgeable in a particular sector.Strong communication skills – written, verbal, presentation, persuasion – and comfortable interacting with senior counterparties.Competent negotiator.Diligent, high attention to detail, self-motivated, a clear and independent thinker.A flexible team player.Personal characteristics of integrity, discipline, curiosity and resilience.
