Job DescriptionDuties and Responsibilities: Deliver safe and effective clinical care in accordance with scheduled working hours. Diagnose and treat illnesses and minor injuries that allow for immediate return to work. Inform the client medical officer if a patient is unfit for duty.
Provide initial management and stabilization for trauma cases pending evacuation to higher-level care. Collaborate with the client to conduct medical examinations, administer vaccinations, and perform case reviews as required. Manage pharmacy inventory and consumables, ensuring stock levels remain within approved minimum and maximum thresholds. Keep the Iqarus controlled drug register current and accurate. Escalate serious, contagious, or conditions requiring parenteral treatment to the client medical officer and the Iqarus Regional Medical Director. Assist in the management of casualties during mass casualty events, in line with the Major Incident Plan.
Notify the Iqarus Regional Medical Officer in the event of a major incident. Support the facilitation and administration of training programs as required. Note: This list is not exhaustive; additional duties may be assigned as needed. QualificationsQualifications & Experience: Medical degree from a recognized institution, with full licensure valid in the country of origin. Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience as a practicing physician, including completion of formal postgraduate training in general practice. Postgraduate experience in emergency medicine, prehospital care, and/or medical retrieval operations.
Preferably experienced in occupational medicine within the United Nations system; certifications such as ACLS, ATLS, or PHLS are highly desirable. Proven ability to deliver high-quality primary and emergency medical care within available resources and field conditions. Proficient in advanced emergency procedures, including airway management (e. g. , use of Laryngeal Mask Airway) and full application of ACLS protocols.
