Job Title: IT and Automation Regional SPOC – Alcoa Quebec Operations (Contract-to-Hire)Location: Quebec Region, CanadaType: 6-month Contract (Cyient) → Potential Permanent Role with AlcoaRole Overview:We are seeking a dedicated Regional SPOC to support Alcoa’s Quebec Operations. This role serves as the on-site IT representative for the ITAS (Information Technology & Automation Services) team, providing end-to-end support across operational applications, local IT infrastructure, and user connectivity. The position works closely with the Alcoa ITAS Perth team, local operations, and central IT functions, ensuring reliable system performance, incident resolution, and business continuity.The role is techno-functional in nature — hands-on across applications and basic infrastructure, without team management or offshore coordination, supporting the local IT head and representing Alcoa ITAS regionally.Key Responsibilities:- Act as the primary SPOC for ITAS across Alcoa’s Quebec operations.- Provide first-line support for operations applications (.NET, C#, SQL Server, and related systems).- Coordinate with the Perth ITAS team for escalations, incident management, and root cause resolution.- Support minor networking and infrastructure activities, including:- User connectivity issues (LAN/Wi-Fi/VPN)- Local hardware support (desktops, laptops, printers, network switches, handheld devices)- Asset tracking and vendor coordination for simple IT tasks- Maintain awareness of IT security and compliance procedures as per Alcoa IT policies.- Ensure smooth execution of change and release activities in line with ITAS governance.- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between operations, Perth IT, and other Alcoa support functions.- Track and report system uptime, incidents, and preventive maintenance activities.- Identify and communicate opportunities for improvement in application stability and user experience.Required Skills & Experience:- 12–18 years of total IT experience in managing/supporting applications and infrastructure.- Strong hands-on experience with .NET, C#, and SQL Server-based applications.- Exposure to basic networking, end-user computing, and small hardware management.- Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes (ITIL familiarity preferred).- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.- Proven ability to work independently and coordinate across geographically distributed teams.- Exposure to manufacturing or plant operations environments is preferred but not mandatory.
