Job Description

As the HR business partner for Japan, you will be responsible for supporting the company's rapid growth in the Japanese market, enhancing employee engagement and retention, and strengthening leadership capabilities within the management team. You will work closely with the APAC HR Director and local management team to develop and implement HR strategies that align with the company's business objectives in Japan.Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Planning and ExecutionDevelop and implement HR strategies tailored to the Japanese market to support business growth.Collaborate with the APAC HR Director and local management team to align HR initiatives with regional and global objectives.2. Recruitment and Talent ManagementLead recruitment activities in Japan to attract, develop, and retain key talent.Drive the execution of talent development initiatives in alignment with global and regional practices, ensuring effective implementation of headquarters’ programs.3. Employee Engagement and RetentionImplement engagement strategies to foster a positive workplace culture and strengthen retention.Monitor employee feedback and satisfaction and propose data-driven improvement actions.4. Leadership and Performance DevelopmentPartner with APAC HR team and local management teams to design and deliver leadership development and coaching programs.Enhance managerial effectiveness through structured performance management and feedback processes.5. Employee Relations and ComplianceEnsure HR operations fully comply with Japanese labor laws and regulations, employment standards, and company policies.Provide guidance on labor standards, handle employee relations matters, and maintain a compliant, fair, and cooperative work environment.QualificationsEducationBachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a biology-related discipline is preferred.Work ExperienceMinimum of 8 years of HR management experience, ideally within Japan or in a Japan-facing HR role.Skills and ExpertiseStrong understanding of Japanese labor laws, employment compliance, and HR best practices.Proven experience in talent management and development programs aligned with global standards.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to influence across all organizational levels.Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Proficiency with HRIS systems and standard office software.Language ProficiencyFluency in Japanese and English, both spoken and written.Personal AttributesStrategic thinker with sound business judgment and cultural sensitivity.Self-motivated, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced, matrix environment.Strong sense of accountability and collaboration.
