Job Description

Location: Sweety Novelty, Inc (Sister company of Jessie Lord Bakery)Job Summary: The Quality Assurance (QA) Manager is responsible for leading and managing all quality and food safety programs to ensure product compliance with company standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations. Essential Job Functions: Develop, implement, and continuously improve quality assurance and food safety programs, including HACCP, SQF, SSOP, SOP, GMP, and Food Safety Management Systems. Monitor daily operations to ensure products meet quality and safety standards required by USDA, FDA, SQF, and customers. Review and update quality policies, standards, and procedures as needed to ensure effectiveness and compliance.

Review lab test results and HACCP records to ensure accuracy and compliance. Ensure accurate documentation and timely reporting of quality metrics and laboratory findings. Collect, monitor, and analyze quality data to identify trends and areas for improvement. Facilitate proactive solutions to quality and food safety challenges. Lead investigations into non-conforming materials and products, implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA). Assist in troubleshooting quality and food safety-related issues in collaboration with Production, Sanitation, and other departments. Serve as the primary contact for external auditors, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.

Ensure the reliability and consistency of production processes and final product output through routine inspections and testing. Devise, implement, and maintain procedures to monitor and report on quality performance. Assist Customer Service with customer complaints, leading investigations into product quality and food safety issues, and implementing corrective actions. Promote and reinforce compliance with GMP, SOP, SSOP, and other food safety protocols throughout the facility. Supervise, guide, and develop inspectors, technicians, and other QA staff. Food Safety Responsibilities:

All employees are required to immediately report and assist in the elimination or control of any food safety issues they observe to their supervisor. Monitors and enforces cGMPs. Follow all Good Manufacturing Practices and Pre-requisite programs. Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field. Certified in HACCP, cGMP, SQF Practitioner, and PCQI. Required Knowledge & Experience: Strong working knowledge of USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMP, SSOP, and food safety regulatory compliance. Minimum of 5 years of experience in quality assurance or food safety in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

Ability to lead audits and regulatory inspections. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and quality management software systems.
