Job Description

Financial Analyst Posting Number: AS888P Summary: Under the general direction of the Associate Vice President of Academic Affairs (AVPAA), the Financial Analyst provides strategic financial insight and management for the division of Academic Affairs. The Financial Analyst will develop analyses, financial forecasts, and financial modeling to inform and support academic priorities and projects.

The Analyst coordinates with the Vice President of Academic Affairs and AVPAA, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness, the three colleges, the academic affairs support units, the Division of Finance & Administration, the Division of Advancement, and other key offices to develop practices, protocols, and policies that ensure effective use of resources that support the current and future development of Academic Affairs. Provide budget information and analysis to support informed decision-making and efficient use of academic affairs resources.

Provide strategic direction to academic units about endowment accounts, scholarships, budget and operational reporting, as appropriate Build financial models for academicdepartments to calculate ROI, contribution margin, capacity, and expense planning for instructors Build financial models to help assess viability and advisability of new strategic initiatives Forecast budget requirements and expenses to align with appropriate orgs and strategic plans for various projects Train/update/provide workshops on college/university budget regulations, management, and performance Support departments and colleges in reconciling account allocations and balances Monitor, improve and optimize budget allocations relative to strategic priorities Provide ongoing maintenance and continuing improvement of financial records relative to AA functions Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree Five years professional work experience providing analytical or business operations support Experience using multiple applications for budget analysis and reporting Excellent oral and written communication and institutional research skills Strong client service focus with demonstrated ability to interpret and explain policies, procedures, and analytics to a wide range of constituents Willingness to acquire new skills to support continuous improvement of operations Ability to work independently and to identify and implement process improvements Interest in understanding and supporting John Carroll's mission to inspire individuals to excel in learning, leadership, and service in the region and in the world Preferred Qualifications:

Degree in accounting, finance or related field Specific experience using the following application software: Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel), Tableau and, Qualtrics Familiarity with Banner and database management tools such as SQL and/or Access is also desirable Normal Working Hours and Conditions: Physical Requirements :

Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to work in an office setting; to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight; to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination including use of a computer keyboard; to travel to other office locations and to verbally communicate to exchange information.
