Your missionDo you want to build something that’s never been done before?Join us in designing and launching our First-of-a-Kind (tFOAK) facility — a project pushing the boundaries of climate-tech innovation. As our Junior Automation Engineer, you’ll own critical parts of the automation and instrumentation, and see your ideas turn into real-world impact — fast.We are looking for a hands-on engineer ready to tackle non-linear processes, crunch times, and unique challenges. You’ll be part of a small, high-impact automation team, working across instrumentation design, market research, and procurement, while collaborating closely with mechanical and process engineers. Expect a steep learning curve and the opportunity to shape a truly pioneering project.Key pointsInstrumentation & Electronics Design:PLC & ScadaControl system programmingDevelop wiring diagrams, I/O lists, and instrumentation layouts.Support troubleshooting and calibration of measurement systems.Market Research & Procurement:Identify and evaluate suitable sensors, measurement devices, and electronic components.Compare technical specifications, vendor offers, and cost optimization in alignment with project needs.Coordinate with suppliers for lead times, delivery, and testing.Testing & Commissioning:System software testingPlan and execute calibration and validation tests for all sensors and electrical systems.Support on-site commissioning and troubleshooting of first-of-a-kind setups.Documentation & Compliance:Prepare detailed documentation (technical manuals, schematics, calibration reports).Ensure compliance with CE and industrial safety standards.Collaboration:Work closely with plant operators to understand their needs, provide technical support, and help refine operator interfaces (HMIs) for clarity and ease of use.Actively contribute to problem-solving during crunch periods with quick iterations and design adjustments.Your profileSkills & ExperienceBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Electronics, Chemical, Aerospace, Mechatronics or Robotics Engineering (or a related field).2+ years of experience in industrial instrumentation, control systems, or electrical design (junior engineers with a strong hands-on mindset are welcome).Procurement and vendor evaluation experience for electronic components or industrial sensors.Control Systems: Practical experience (3+ years) working with and troubleshooting PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley) and SCADA/HMI platforms.Programming: Demonstrated ability to read, understand, and modify existing automation programs (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).Instrumentation: Hands-on experience with the calibration, installation, and maintenance of common industrial instruments (VFDs, pressure, temperature, flow, etc.).Industrial Networking: Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, EtherNet/IP) and experience troubleshooting network issues.Problem-Solving: Proven ability to diagnose technical problems methodically and implement effective solutions.Workstyle and cultureFast learning and quick to grasp complex topicsA team player with a hands-on mentalityAuthentic and reflective selfself-Organizer and structures workstyle to keep focus and get things doneGood listener and effective communicator in cross-sectional teamCurious and open-mindedOtherValid Work Permit for Germany, or able to obtain a permitLocation: Exiting industrial Co-Working Space in Marzahn where we have our own industrial halls to buildBenefitsUnique experience contributing to a first-of-a-kind climate-tech project (tFOAK).A steep learning curve, exposure to cross-functional challenges, and the ability to shape a project from the ground up.Fast-paced, collaborative environment where your decisions have a real impact.Competitive compensation and personal growth opportunities.Employee stock optionsFlexible working hoursRegular team eventsSubsidized BVG ticketLaptop and your individual work set up
