Junior Designer Michael Joseph publishes some of the world’s most popular authors. We specialise in women’s fiction, crime, thriller, cookery, memoir and lifestyle books. Many of our authors are household names, here in the UK and around the world. We seek out the very best authors in their field and bring their books to the widest possible audience. We take an author’s vision and turn it into a beautiful package people can’t help but talk about. In a crowded market, our books must shine. The roleAs a Junior Designer you will work closely with the Art Director, studio manager and Senior Designers. Key responsibilities: Work on book covers in conjunction with senior designers and art director.Work with illustrators and freelance designers.Assist with art working existing files for print.May negotiate with external providers.Read and analyse book text.Assist in production of visuals for cover meetings.Assist on re-print changes.Update artwork relating to film tie-insAssist with hardback to paperwork adaptationsMay attend some photoshoots with a senior designer/ manager What you’ll bring You will have demonstrated knowledge of contemporary design and culture and interest in books with a portfolio to support your application.Mac experienceWorking knowledge of Indesign, Photoshop, IllustratorDesired: Work experience within publishingApplication instructionsPlease apply with your CV and portfolio outlining your work and why you are the right candidate for the role by the 30th of October 2025.Salary£29,500 dependent on how your skills and experience align to the role, plus bonus and benefits. For this role we expect you to work at least two days in the office.
