Job RequirementsPosition Summary:The Manufacturing Engineer will play a key role in supporting production processes and improving manufacturing efficiency within the Global Engineering Centre at Collins Aerospace. This position focuses on process optimization, tooling development, and ensuring adherence to quality and operational standards in aerospace manufacturing.The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of manufacturing principles, hands-on problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to driving continuous improvements.Key Responsibilities:Process Optimization and Support:Develop, analyze, and optimize manufacturing processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure cost-effectiveness.Provide engineering support to resolve production challenges and ensure continuity of operations.Tooling and Equipment Management:Design, develop, and validate tools, fixtures, and equipment to support production activities.Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of tools to achieve consistent manufacturing performance.Documentation and Process Control:Create and maintain technical documentation, including work instructions, process plans, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).Ensure all processes meet industry and internal quality standards, including AS9100 and regulatory requirements.Data Analysis and Problem Resolution:Analyze production data to identify opportunities for process improvements.Support root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective actions to eliminate process disruptions.Continuous Improvement Initiatives:Apply LEAN, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement methodologies to enhance manufacturing performance.Contribute to projects aimed at increasing efficiency, productivity, and product quality.Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with design, quality, and production teams to ensure manufacturability of aerospace components.Collaborate with global stakeholders to meet customer and operational requirements.Quality Assurance:Monitor and ensure compliance with quality standards throughout the manufacturing process.Participate in audits and support customer reviews as required.Work ExperienceRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field.1-3 years of experience in manufacturing engineering or a related role.Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, process optimization, and tooling development.Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies.Experience with CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, CATIA, Siemens NX) for tooling and process design.Proficiency in technical documentation and process control systems.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Preferred Skills:Experience in the aerospace industry or a manufacturing environment.Familiarity with quality standards such as AS9100 and other aerospace regulations.Knowledge of ERP systems (e.g., SAP) for production planning and control.Ability to interpret and analyze engineering drawings and specifications.Hands-on experience with process simulations and validation techniques.
