The role offers the opportunity to work and develop in the fields of both cyber security and vulnerability scanning.With a good understanding of the complexities of cyber security, you will be a key part of our cyber team, working to monitor the ever-evolving threat landscape. You will be at the forefront of safeguarding our digital assets and data.You will work with an experienced team of Analysts supporting the critical monitoring, detection, analysis, and response to security incidents and threats. Your awareness in security technologies and incident response procedures will be pivotal in protecting our critical systems and data.With a keen interest in vulnerability scanning your role will be key in the expansion of our existing internal and external scanning capability where you will work alongside a more experienced team member who will provide support in your development as you increase our presence in this area.Leveraging leading cybersecurity tools including Azure Sentinel and Tenable Nessus, you will work to ensure vigilant incident and event monitoring alongside performing vulnerability scanning of assets.Visit our blog to learn more about us and our work: https://icsdigital.blog.gov.uk/Person specificationThe main aspects of the role will be: Correlation and triage of security incidents Cyber Incident response planning and preparation Cyber Incident detection, investigation, and analysis Cyber Incident containment, eradication and recovery Cyber Incident post incident activity and reporting Vulnerability Scanning and reportingAnd your key responsibilities will involve; Investigation and remediation of Cyber Incidents and Alerts. Working with our Senior Analysts on improving detection capabilities within the SIEM. Assisting Senior Security Analysts in assessment of the current security tooling and planning for future states. Assist the Senior Security Analysts in their role as key technical contacts with external vendors and the NCSC. Performing vulnerability scanning of key infrastructure and public facing websites. Provide vulnerability scan reporting to stakeholders.Essential Criteria Experience of SIEM alerting and monitoring procedures. Ability to inspect security logs, identify log sources and communicate findings to a variety of stakeholders. Involvement in correlation and triage of security incidents with an understanding of investigation, analysis and response techniques. A firm understanding of core principals in vulnerability scanning and an awareness of associated tooling. A solid technical foundation in IT, with knowledge of operating systems, network topology, and security concepts.Desirable criteria CompTIA Security+ / Network+ Certification.
