Education And Work ExperienceHigher education (University degree or higher) in oil&gas area and not less than 10 years of work experience in the position of Completion Engineer or Workover Engineer. Main FunctionsProvision of high level technical and organizational support during Workover and Completion work execution for 1000HP Rig, abiding by KPO corporate policy and procedures, RoK Statutory, Health, Safety and Environmental regulations. Close collaboration with the Well Construction Department, Well Engineering Department, the Well Services team and the Field Department to ensure integrated well workover and completion operations delivery as per schedule.
Preparation of programs on workover and completion operations related to 1000HP rig, including top holes drilled by the means of a workover rig, in accordance with Policy for Document Management and engineering principles. Driving continuous improvement process in terms of workover and completion operation, design and time/cost optimization for upcoming projects, based on the historical data and lessons learned. Provide expert advice to Well Completions and Services Manager and other managers within Well Operations Department on critical workover and completions wells, to ensure safe and efficient operational management during complex workovers and completion.
Oversee the workover and completions operations including critical well integrity well repairs and well restoration according to approved work sequence, ensuring all set objectives are met. Work seamlessly with the Drilling Superintendent (under functional reporting line) and Well Site team in a lifecycle manner to ensure the safe and efficient execution of operations. Act as a focal point for operational matters on the workover rig and responsible for daily reporting, engineering and execution planning and troubleshooting with the rig. Review workover feasibilities and develop detailed operational plans to execute identified workover and re-completion activities.
As part of duties, to develop detailed work programmes to cover activities carried out on the workover rig including workover phase, completions phase and top-hole drilling work programmes according to KPO policies and RoK regulations. Prepare contingency plans to manage all the phases of workover and completions including removal of old completions and the re-installations of new completions. Provide expert-level troubleshooting during execution and solutions for well integrity issues.
Carry out detailed design and implement workover and completions equipment selection, including (but not limited to) equipment and tools required for retrieval of old completions, packers, selection of appropriate new completion string and accessories, Wellhead and X-mas Tree components as may be required during workover and re-completion operations. Provide equipment forecast for workover, top holes drilling and completion activities related to new rig scope. Ensure materials, tools, equipment and resources are available before required onsite dates for workover and completions scope.
Maintain a material tracking file with stock utilization and ensure material orders are placed and received in due time. Provide technical advice in preparation of well operations tenders relating to workover and completions activities. Carry out engineering analysis using well operations software for the verification of well loads and stresses during workover and completion operations by performing Tubing Stress Analysis, Hydraulics calculations and Torque and Drag simulations as may be required. Prepare operational risk assessments together with service providers (business partners), to ensure workover and completions activities are carried out safely.
Monitor availability of the barriers that are required during workover and completion operations for ensuring well control and the process safety. Сoordinate and follow up the preparation of documentation necessary to change or amend permits and approvals resulting from operational changes. Track the daily performance and spend/cost during workover, top hole drilling and completion operations, in order to ensure that well workover, top holes drilling and completion actual costs are within approved budgets.
In order to support adequate performance management, identify the adequate performance metrics and the benchmarks for workover and completion activity based on best international practice and in collaboration with Operator. In collaboration with Well Construction Department prepare End of well report (EOWR) documentation and carry out after action reviews (AARs) to document learnings from executed workover and completions activities relating to the workover rig. Promote Continuous Improvement process by:
identification of new technological ideas related to workover, top holes drilling and completion operations that can help to increase value to the company by improving efficiency and quality through effectiveness of deployed designs and concepts. proposing more efficient standard operating procedures (SOP). providing advice on changes to the ways of working and current KPO practices, also based on his knowledge of best practices from outside of KPO. liaison with Parent Companies in order to identify applicable best practices for KPO by pulling learnings from international projectsParticipate in audits, near miss and accident investigations relating to workover or completions.
Act as safety leader with frequent presence on site and identification, in his field of expertise, of safe practices of operations, either adapting and improving existing practices of advising on new ones.
