Appleton Schools is seeking a Social Media & Marketing Intern to join our dynamic team. This is an exciting opportunity for a final-year university student or a recent graduate (within the last 2 years) to gain real-world, hands-on experience in content creation, digital strategy, and school marketing.
You’ll work closely with multiple departments, learn how education marketing operates from the inside, and contribute to meaningful projects that build your professional portfolio. What You’ll Be DoingContent CreationLiaise with teachers to plan and capture classroom content, school events, andstudent milestones. Help coordinate and schedule classroom visits to collect photo and video content. Develop creative, relatable content for organic social media and blogs. Support the collection of real classroom stories to be featured across platforms. Admin SupportUnderstand and support administrative workflows within the school. Track and maintain up-to-date student media consent records.
Help in organizing, sorting, and cleaning internal datasets. Marketing Team ResponsibilitiesYou will be a core part of the Marketing Team, reporting directly to the Marketing Manager. Your duties will include: Create and publish content across Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Google Business,X, and YouTube. Edit and produce basic visual content (images & videos) using Canva, Adobe Suiteor other editing tools. Write and publish blog articles for the Appleton Schools website. Generate monthly reports on organic content performance and audience insights. Assist in planning, organizing, and executing marketing events, open days, andschool activations.
Participate in weekly brainstorms and strategy meetings with the marketing team. Support ongoing advertising campaigns and collaborate on campaign performancetracking. Aid in sourcing data and insights for decision-making, especially around paid ads. 🔍 Who We’re Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who is not only capable but also driven, innovative, and has a genuine passion for marketing and an interest in the education industry. You should be confident, resourceful, and bring fresh energy to every project. Must-Have QualificationsA final-year university student OR a recent graduate (within the last 2 years) in:
Marketing, Communications, PR, Journalism, Media, or similar fieldMust be available for a hybrid internship structure. Comfortable working around children under 14 years oldMust have a portfolio. School projects, personal creative work, or freelance/socialmedia examples are welcome. Essential Skills & AttributesCreative, curious, and eager to learn. Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. Confident in sharing ideas and taking initiative (no idea is too crazy!)Comfortable working with children under the age of 14 (must be friendly, patient, andrespectful). Organized and able to manage multiple tasks (e. g. , tracking content permissions,planning content schedules).
Experience managing social media accounts (even personal or for school clubs). Familiarity with Canva and basic visual design tools. Able to work independently with minimal supervision after onboarding. Bonus Skills (Nice To Have)Experience with Facebook Ads Manager or Google Ads. Familiarity with tools like Hootsuite, Zoho Social, or similar. Experience using Zoho CRM, email marketing, or mapping tools. Ability to use Trello for task/project management. Working knowledge of Figma for collaborative design work. Experience working with WordPress – blog posting, page editing, plug-in use, etc. Understanding of SEO and blog writing best practices.
Work Setup & OnboardingThe Internship Follows a Hybrid Work Model, But Your First Two Weeks Will Be Full-time In The Office So You CanComplete structured onboarding and trainingUnderstand internal systems and processesShadow team members and observe ongoing projectsBegin contributing to real-time work under direct supervisionAfter this period, the internship transitions into a hybrid structure, where you’ll work remotely but occasionally report to the office (e. g. , for shoots, strategy sessions, events, etc. ). Note: You’ll work under the direct supervision of the Marketing Manager who will support your growth, give feedback, and provide structure throughout your internship.
