Job Description/RequirementsThe FTTH & WiFi Hotspot Technician will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting Lightspeed Internet LTD’s fiber and wireless networks in Kisii and Nakuru. This includes running and splicing fiber on KPLC poles, configuring MikroTik routers and hotspots, deploying ONUs/OLTs, and installing Ubiquiti/Cambium P2P links. Key ResponsibilitiesInstall, splice, terminate, and test fiber connections using fusion splicer and OTDR. Run fiber drops and install splitters to deliver service to homes, hostels, and markets. Configure and maintain MikroTik hotspot systems, PPPoE, VLANs, and network security settings.
Deploy, align, and troubleshoot wireless P2P radios and access points. Perform CAT6 cabling, crimping, and network switch installations. Diagnose and resolve network outages, user connectivity issues, and voucher service problems. Maintain service uptime by proactively monitoring and addressing faults. Document work, test results, and site configurations for future reference. Provide 24×7 technical support as required, including on-site emergency visits. RequirementsMinimum 3 years of hands-on field experience in fiber and wireless network deployment. Strong understanding of GPON OLT/ONT systems, IP addressing, and subnetting. Skilled in using fiber tools: OTDR, fusion splicer, power meter. Familiar with wireless standards (802.
11a/b/g/n/ac) and TCP/IP networking. Certificate of good conduct; motorbike riding license is an advantage.
