Job Description/RequirementsOur client, a leading independent power producer with an expanding portfolio across Africa, is seeking a dedicated Electrical Engineer to join their team at a 35 MW greenfield geothermal power plant in Menengai, Kenya. This permanent, full-time role is crucial for ensuring high plant availability, optimal equipment performance, and full compliance with safety and quality standards. The Electrical Engineer will lead the implementation of maintenance activities across all electrical, instrumentation, communication, and control systems. You will supervise a team of technicians and collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure sustained plant performance, availability, and reliability.
Key Responsibilities IncludeLeading preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on electrical, instrumentation, communication, and control systems. Participating in site inspections, contractor-led training, and commissioning activities during the mobilization period. Managing contractors and maintenance support teams. Executing fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, and necessary repairs on plant systems. Supervising and evaluating Electrical and I&C Technicians. Enforcing HSESS procedures and conducting audits to ensure compliance. Minimum RequirementsBachelor's degree in electrical, electronics, instrumentation, and control engineering or equivalent. Professional registration with the Engineers Board of Kenya (EBK). Minimum of 5 years of experience in a power plant operations environment, preferably geothermal or steam turbine-based.
At least 3 years in a supervisory or team-lead capacity. Deep understanding of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems, including process safety. Proficiency in SCADA, PLC/DCS systems, and industrial automation. Willingness to work shifts, weekends, and respond to plant emergencies.
