Job Description

Position: Environmental Planner    Position Number: 000689Department: Development ServicesEmployment Status: Ongoing, part timeLocation: Civic Centre About this position: Council has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Environmental Planner to join its Development Services team. Kingborough is experiencing rapid growth in development in our urban, rural, and coastal environments.   This position is involved in the assessment of development applications with a focus on balancing development with the natural environment and responding to natural hazards, as identified within the Planning Scheme.   There are opportunities to work with residents, environmental consultants and the broader community.

      Ideally you will have some experience and a tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as environmental planning, natural resource management, environmental science or statutory planning.   Recent graduates in relevant disciplines are also encouraged to apply. The position requires the ability to interpret legislation and statutory planning controls, an understanding of natural values and hazards, as well as strong organisational skills and communication skills.  Further details: The role is part time (minimum 32 hours per week) with a salary range of $91,245 to $100,816 per annum, depending on skills and experience.
