Job SummaryThe Tutoring Manager provides direction and leadership to Tutoring Services and ensures the strategic implementation of quality services that align with college goals to support student success. This position manages student and faculty support operations, program evaluation and learning assessment, and communication of progress toward the strategic initiatives assigned to the unit. Supervisorial ResponsibilitiesSupervises full-time professional staff, part-time professional staff, student workers, and coordinates the work of faculty given release time. Required Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities A strong commitment to community college education and willingness to promote student and faculty success.
Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and solve problems; identify opportunities to improve programs; evaluate programs and strategies; analyze and apply laws, rules, and regulations involving programs, staff, and students; and represent the College at community, state, and national levels as requested. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required; proficiency in written and spoken English. Computer skills, especially in the areas of Microsoft Office, tutorial creation software, learning management system, online conferencing, video production and editing, social media, website maintenance, and file management. Successful experience meeting deadlines, as well as establishing structures, systems, and processes to reach goals and objectives.
Experience working with minorities, individuals with accommodations, and adults in a higher education setting preferred. Required Qualifications Bachelors degree Two-years supervisory experience Experience in higher education Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and assessment skillsPreferred Qualifications Masters degree in education or related field Teaching/training experience Experience in providing learning assistance and using common educational softwarePhysical Demands Work is normally performed in a general office environment. Oversees and executes customer service functions and department operations.
Establishes ongoing staff professional development and training according to CRLA and ACTLA certifications for quality tutoring service. Maintains certifications of tutoring program. Supervises the collection, analysis, and dissemination of departmental data such as student learning outcomes assessment and service utilization by topic, time, and population demographics, and collaborates with Institutional Research to determine success rates for students in specific courses or programs. Manages, troubleshoots, and trains others on tutor tracking software for communication among tutors and with campus stakeholders such as Advising, Faculty, Athletics, and leadership.
Determines and selects appropriate services, staying abreast of best practices and trends, to meet changing stakeholder needs in alignment with college strategic goals in such areas as tutoring delivery formats, including in-person, online, embedded support, and third-party vendors. Conducts program review, annual program review updates, and annual reports for tutoring services, in collaboration with campus stakeholders. Maintains and creates appropriate web, portal, handouts, guides, videos, and other student help materials, and works with campus partners to maintain and promote department activities, tutoring opportunities, workshops, group study sessions, and college academic success activities.
Assists with leadership of tutoring advisory committee and participates on appropriate campus committees. Collaborates on appropriate academic support initiatives.
