It's fun to work at a company where people truly believe in what they are doing!Job Description:Job SummaryThe Knowledge Management (KM) Consultant role will be an integral part of our market leading Knowledge Management and Data Strategy practice groups, leading development and management of our KM offerings and methodologies. Finally, the ideal candidate will have a detailed understanding of matter and client life cycles (and related workflows) within law firms, and knowledge of data and information governance leading practices.This is a client-facing role, and successful employees will be comfortable interacting directly with client personnel at all levels.Essential Job Responsibilities Develop KM strategies and identify use cases in collaboration with law firm stakeholders. Act as the primary contact for client representatives with regard to preparation for, and successful configuration of, KM systems. Work with Advisory Practice Lead to develop and continuously improve the overall KM practice, its methodologies, and offerings. Develop estimates and project work plans for KM projects and collaborate with designated project managers to ensure projects run according to schedule and costs. Serve as subject matter expert and lead consultant on design andimplementation of KM solutions. Build business cases (for law firms) for KM solutions and document multi-year roadmaps for implementation that identify dependencies and sequencing. Design and implement classification schemas related to experiential data including definitions, data structures, and associated metadata. Lead the successful implementation and extension of KM programs at firms. Lead the configuration and management of client KM systems through the course of a project. Advise on data analysis and mapping activities related to planning for integration of internal client data into KM systems to support client priorities. Lead client discussions related to data architectures as they impact an KM Program. This includes offering expertise related to taxonomies and governance best practices. Lead and manage data integration and import/export works to ensure content is transferred and validated. Organize and lead UAT testing phases on client projects, including development of testing scripts or criteria, and obtain stakeholder signoff. Develop release notes, contribute to end user communications, and assist with the development of governance models, procedures, and policies. Advise clients with design and configuration of matter profiles and business processes supporting matter profiling, and preservation of system compatibility and consistency. Develop productive and strong working relationships with KM solution/product providers to understand product roadmaps and remain abreast of all product updates and new features. Drive overall client satisfaction through effective development and communication of client deliverables. Effectively manage project resources (Fireman and/or client) to successfully execute work as documented in project forecasts and work schedules. Take accountability for client satisfaction and quality and accuracy of project deliverables developed during the course of projects. Maintain an up-to-date record with regard to the status of all projects being worked on. Participate in regular meetings of the Knowledge Management practice and relevant project teams. Liaise with other Fireman & Company personnel as necessary in course of duties. Regularly meet with KM solution/product representatives to conduct knowledge share sessions.Qualifications A background within (or consulting to) a professional services vertical is required; a law firm background is preferred. A detailed understanding of leading KM vendors and solutions and their functionality, technical architectures, and product roadmaps. Relevant certifications are a plus. A deep understanding of typical use cases for KM software for a variety of business departments within professional services firms, Marketing, BD, DE&I, and Pricing. Experience managing multiple and simultaneous projects to successful completion and working with a range of project stakeholders including service providers. Oral and written communication skills, with the ability to credibly contextualize messaging for both technical and non-technical audiences. The ability to adjust messaging based on the audience is critical. Experience of database design and management, and data processing activities. Experience with data profiling, root cause analysis and quality improvement techniques. Basic understanding of the critical success criteria for experience management programs and solutions. Ability to work in a team environment and flexible approach to working with various groups across the globe. Competence to prioritize effectively, meet deadlines and accomplish assigned tasks with minimal supervision. Familiarity with document management systems, new matter intake, and/or enterprise search platforms a plus. Bachelor's Degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
