Job Title: Freelance Data Architect Location: Brussels, Belgium (Hybrid) Contract Type: Freelance Languages Required: Fluent in French or Dutch (English is a plus) Duration: Till the end of the year + extensionsAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced Freelance Data Architect to support our client in Belgium in designing and implementing robust data architecture solutions. You will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, and IT teams to ensure data systems are aligned with business goals, scalable, and secure. Key ResponsibilitiesDesign and implement scalable, high-performance data architecture and data pipelines. Define data standards, models, and integration strategies.
Assess existing data infrastructure and recommend improvements. Ensure data governance, quality, and compliance with GDPR and local regulations. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (BI, engineering, business analysts) to translate business requirements into technical solutions. Guide and support data engineers and developers in implementation. Document architecture and processes for stakeholders. RequirementsProven experience as a Data Architect or similar role (5+ years preferred). Strong knowledge of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing. Experience with cloud platforms (e. g. , AWS, Azure, GCP) and data lake/data mesh architectures. Familiarity with modern data tools (e. g. , Snowflake, BigQuery, dbt, Apache Kafka, Talend, etc. ).
Strong understanding of data security, privacy regulations, and best practices. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently in a freelance/consultant capacity. Must be fluent in French or Dutch. Preferred QualificationsPrevious experience with Belgian or EU-based clients. Familiarity with Agile methodologies. Certifications in cloud or data platforms are a plus.
