Job Title: Fragrance Education ManagerDepartment: Luxe EducationReporting To: Omni Service & Education ManagerLocation: L’Oréal South Africa Woodmead Office – Johannesburg. Primarily office-based (or flexible/hybrid), with national travel as required for specialized events and/or training seminars.Job PurposeThe Fragrance Education Manager is the ultimate subject matter expert for all L'Oréal Luxe fragrance brands and products. This role is responsible for the strategic development and delivery of advanced national fragrance education training programs, and content, that aligns with the Brand DMI guidelines. This individual will proactively elevate fragrance expertise within the Luxe division as well as across our BA population, ensuring a unified and sophisticated approach to olfactive storytelling and sales. Ultimately, this role is crucial for strategically positioning L'Oréal Luxe at the absolute forefront of fragrance education, cementing our reputation as industry leaders and driving sustained competitive advantage.Key Responsibilities Strategically develop and update comprehensive national fragrance training and learning pathways, manuals, and digital learning modules, in line with brand expectations, for both internal teams and external business partners. Lead and facilitate high-level masterclasses, specialized workshops, and large-scale training events on fragrance for key stakeholders and Beauty Advisors. Be the primary fragrance knowledge resource, providing expert guidance and support to the Regional Cross-Category Education Mangers on complex and/or nuanced fragrance topics. Collaborate closely with Marketing, Commercial, and Field Teams to ensure training content is aligned with brand strategies and new product launches. Continuously research and stay abreast of global fragrance trends, innovations, competitor landscapes, and consumer insights, integrating findings into training programs. Develop engaging and impactful storytelling techniques around fragrance, that aligns with Brand DMI guidelines, to enhance BA learning pathways and elevate consumer understanding and emotional connection. Evaluate the effectiveness of national fragrance training programs and implement improvements based on feedback and performance data. Potentially represent L'Oréal Luxe at industry events or media engagements related to fragrance education.Hard SkillsExpert Fragrance Knowledge: Deep and comprehensive understanding of fragrance families, notes, ingredients, history, creation processes, and market trends.Advanced Curriculum DesignProven ability to develop sophisticated and engaging fragrance educational content for diverse learning levels.Instructional Design & E-learning: Proficiency in creating online learning modules and utilizing various digital training tools.Public Speaking & PresentationExceptional ability to command an audience, present complex information clearly, and inspire passion for fragrance.Project ManagementStrong organizational and planning skills to manage multiple content development projects concurrently.Content CreationAbility to create compelling written, visual, and multimedia content for training purposes.Digital LiteracyCompetence in using Microsoft software (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint, Canva), communication tools (e.g., Teams, Zoom), and reporting platforms.Soft Skills Strategic Thinking: Ability to conceptualize and plan long-term educational strategies for the fragrance category. Exceptional Communication: Articulate, persuasive, and inspiring communication skills, both verbal and written. Collaboration & Influence: Strong ability to work cross-functionally and influence stakeholders across various departments. Passion & Storytelling: Deep passion for fragrance and the ability to convey its artistry and emotional impact. Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to content accuracy and quality. Mentorship & Coaching: Desire and ability to elevate the knowledge and skills of other trainers and BA population. Autonomy & Initiative: Capacity to lead a specialized function with minimal oversight, taking full ownership of the fragrance education pillar.Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Marketing, or a related field; equivalent professional experience will be considered. Specialized certifications in fragrance creation, evaluation, or sensory analysis are highly advantageous.Requirements Minimum of 3-5 years of dedicated experience in fragrance education, or a similar expert role within the beauty or luxury industry. Demonstrated success in developing and delivering national-level or large-scale training programs. Proven track record as a recognized subject matter expert in the fragrance field.
