Laboratory Technical Officer

The primary purpose of this role is to provide a timely and accurate analytical service to ensure ongoing quality and reliability of plant operations. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team, covering diverse areas of work including spectrographic, raw materials and environment.This is primarily a daywork role but shift work will be required at times to meet business needs.This is a part time 3 days per week for a period of 12 months.Principal AccountabilitiesSample collection from onsite and offsite (Kooragang Bulk Facilities)Registration of samples.Preparation of samples using various sub-sampling and crushing equipment.Perform a variety of physical and chemical tests on the raw materials used in the aluminium making process.Operating x-ray fluorescence, x-ray diffraction and density instruments.Test, maintain and calibrate equipmentSelection Criteria:Current drivers’ licenceDiploma or degree in chemistry or equivalentDemonstrated report writing skillsAn understanding of working in a NATA accredited laboratoryDemonstrated ability to work unsupervisedGood verbal and written communication skillsDemonstrated computer skills (including Excel)Demonstrated experience to report and present informationAbility to work shift work when required.Why Tomago AluminiumTomago Aluminium is a globally competitive manufacturer of primary aluminium products.
