If you’re ready to bring your skills to a dynamic, mission-driven team, let’s connect!Position Summary:We’re currently looking for a Laboratory Technician who wants to play a hands-on role in R&D work that will include a variety of analytical and nanotechnology techniques. The initial focus is on an existing international collaborative project towards developing a multi-cancer test where work will include developing a nanotechnology-based DNA extraction and sensing system. Furthermore, the Laboratory Technician will support Qurin`s core strategy of bringing our own extraction technology and cancer diagnostic tests to the market, starting with bladder cancer. You'll be at the heart of our projects, following clear procedures (SOPs and WIs) to keep things running smoothly, and using our user-friendly Electronic Laboratory Notebook (ELN) to easily track and record data as you go. We’re serious about quality and training, so you’ll have all the support and guidance you need from our team, backed by our quality management system. But there’s also plenty of flexibility in this role—you’ll have the freedom to manage your daily tasks and plan your workflow, while still knowing that our scientists are there to guide you when you need it. Please note that due to the subsidy-based nature of this project, this role will initially be for 1 to 2 years.Responsibilities:Laboratory experiments: You’ll bring our plans to life in the lab by running experiments and recording data in our ELN. Specific experiments likely include DNA extraction, nanoparticle synthesis and analysis and surface chemistry and DNA quantification methods. Maintenance: Lab equipment needs some TLC to keep it running smoothly. You’ll share maintenance duties with the team, so everything stays in top condition.Agile reporting: fast-paced planning, execution and reporting on experiments.What We Are Looking For:We're seeking a highly organized individual who is eager to learn and enjoys the hands-on work in the laboratory and has a talent for managing day-to-day operations to keep the lab running smoothly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will be welcoming, detail-oriented, and supportive - someone who enjoys working both independently and as part of a team. Are you ready to make a real impact?What You Bring:Minimum higher laboratory degree (HBO or WO). More than 2 years of relevant work experience is a strong plus.Experience with nanotechnology or nano-based sensingExperience with molecular methods like DNA extraction methods and analysis.Good attention to detail and accuracy in lab workPositive attitude, enthusiastic, and have a get-things-done mentality.Proficient in English (spoken and written), Dutch language skills are a plus.Experience with a Quality Management System and ELN system is a plus.Located near, or willing to travel to Leiden.Legal right to work in the Netherlands.Available to work in the laboratory/office at least 4 days per week.What We Offer:Beautiful office near Bio Science Park, Leiden, with brand new labs and more coming.
