The job requires excellent oral and written command of the English language.Resumes must be submitted in English.About The JobWe're looking for a Legal Billing & Cost Control Specialist with strong U.S. legal experience to join our Treasury and Asset Resolution team.In this role, you'll serve as the subject matter expert for all things related to legal billing oversight, cost analysis, and spend optimization. You'll work closely with Finance and Legal teams to streamline processes, reduce legal spend, and ensure billing accuracy across multiple vendors and law firms.This position is ideal for someone who thrives on detail, understands U.S. legal billing structures, and enjoys finding smarter, more efficient ways to manage costs.Responsibilities:Conduct a comprehensive audit of all existing legal expenses, the majority of which relate to outside attorneys and other vendors that support the Company's loss mitigation effortAnalyze trends and identify opportunities for cost-savings, to optimize legal expense managementDevelop and administer legal expense policies and procedures, including budgeting and a defined approval process prior to expenses being incurredReview and validate legal expenses, identifying and appropriately escalating any invoicing errors/discrepanciesDevelop and maintain strong relationships with outside attorneys and other vendors, negotiating favorable terms and resolving any issuesTrack and monitor legal expenses on an ongoing basis to ensure compliance with established policies and proceduresPropose cost-saving strategies to management to enable cost efficiency and effective financial planningOther projects and duties as assignedRequirementsBachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field, and/or a Paralegal certificateMust be a U.S. paralegal or have equivalent experience within a U.S. law firm context3-5 years experience in the lending/mortgage industry preferred100% fluency in English, with exceptional English verbal and written communication skillsExperience with Microsoft: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams is requiredProven track record in reviewing and auditing legal invoices, managing billing backlogs, and driving measurable cost reductionsExperience in billing dispute resolution, budget tracking, and outside counsel managementYou must have your own laptop or desktop to use (the company does not supply equipment)BenefitsCONTRACT/CONSULTANCY POSITIONSalary: 1500-2000USDPTO AvailableFully Remote / Work From Home
