JOB SUMMARY :This position is responsible for serving as legal counsel for CCAD reporting into the General Counsel. This position will provide strategic guidance, consultation, and support to senior management and the C-Suite on a comprehensive range of legal and associated issues involved in carrying out the business operations at CCAD.PRIMARY JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Serves as CCAD’s legal advisorEnsures accurate and timely responses are provided to requests for legal adviceReviews, researches, interprets, and prepares both written and oral opinions on a variety of legal issuesReviews contracts, leases, and other legal documents; researches legal issues and recommends revisions as necessaryApply effective risk management techniques and offer proactive advise on possible legal issuesAdvises and trains appropriate members of the department on legal developmentsProvide clarification on legal language or specificationsIdentifies and seeks to implement measures to bring legal services to CCAD in the most effective way possibleParticipates in the budget processIn collaboration with the General Counsel, manages outside counsel in the most cost-effective manner possibleCommunicate and negotiate with external parties (regulators, external counsel etc.), creating relations of trustEnsure legal compliance with all applicable lawsOther duties as assignedPHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENTTypical physical demands include: a high degree of manual dexterity to sufficiently perform computer functions on a keyboard, produce materials on a PC and operate basic office equipment, normal or corrected vision and hearing, extensive sitting and/or walking, mobility sufficient to visit with departments or employees throughout CCAD and lift up to 30 lbs.QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS EducationJ.D. from an accredited law school ExperienceMinimum of twelve (12+) years’ law experience, preferably in both a law firm and an in-house settingExperience in the healthcare sector is required, including in the areas of hospital/healthcare business operations and contracting; hospital/physician contracting; business transactions, including joint ventures, mergers/acquisitions/dispositions, and financings; and healthcare regulatory and legal compliance, as is an excellent understanding of major UAE laws, and related regulations that govern the provision of healthcare services. Certification and LicensureValid and current national good standing in a legal association Job Specific Skills and AbilitiesAbility to demonstrate executive leadership and ability to see and handle all aspects of a project; confident, pragmatic business acumen with the ability to recognize the business consequences of legal advice; a strategic and innovative thinker who can develop and articulate a clear understanding of the organization’s strategy from all perspectives and find creative solutions to complex legal problems. Ability to transition between an operations-focused view and a strategic outlook.A demonstrable ability to be an effective leader within an established legal department.Proven track record of strong negotiation, communication, organizational, and people management skills and the ability to influence and build relationships.Experience implementing legal strategies in a business environmentAbility to manage a practice group in at least one substantive area of law importanceStrong oral and written communication skillsHigh degree of professional ethics and integrityAbility to speak and write in both English and ArabicHealth care industry experience
