Reporting to the Director, Legal & Compliance, you will negotiate and manage commercial/trading contracts, translate evolving regulations into clear documentation and processes, and handle early dispute matters. Partnering with Trading, Operations, Risk, Treasury and Tax, you’ll balance risk with execution and strengthen contract governance. . The ideal candidates will bring 3–5 years in energy/commodities with excellent drafting skills and commercial judgment. This role will be based out of our Rotterdam office in the Netherlands.Contract DetailsThis is a full-time position with a fixed-term contract lasting 12 months. At the end of the contract period, there is a possibility of transitioning to a full-time position based on performance, business needs, and mutual agreement.Key ResponsibilitiesDraft, review and negotiate agreements for environmental commodities and clean-fuel instruments, including emissions allowance trading contracts (e.g., RINs, LCFS, CFR, EU ETS, Fuel EU Maritime) and related confirmationsDraft, review and negotiate physical commodity sale and purchase agreements (biofuels, feedstocks and gas) and ancillary logistics or handling services supporting the supply chainMonitor evolving regulatory developments affecting carbon, clean fuels and commodity markets and support their implementation within documentation and processesSupport the preparation, handling and management of pre-litigation matters, including claims, notices, early dispute correspondence and coordination with external counselCollaborate with Trading, Operations, Risk, Treasury, and Tax to ensure contractual terms support commercial objectives and can be operationalized effectivelyContribute to ongoing enhancement of legal templates and contract-management processes and internal policiesQualifications and SkillsBachelor of Laws (LL.B., J.D. or equivalent) from a recognized university; bar admission is an asset3–5 years’ experience in the energy and physical commodities industryExperience negotiating NAESB and EFET documentation and biofuel/feedstock purchase and sale agreements, storage and logistics agreementsExperience negotiating emissions allowance trading contracts (e.g. RINs, LCFS, CFR, EU ETS)Experience with ISDA and CSA documentation is a plus but not a core requirementExcellent command of English (oral and written) is required and any additional language is considered an asset (French preferred)Strong drafting, communication and organizational skills, with attention to detail and commercial awarenessProactive, collaborative, and comfortable working in a fast-paced trading environment with multiple stakeholdersDiversity & InclusionDiversity and inclusiveness are at the heart of who we are and how we work.
