Legal Counsel, Maybank Investment Bank Bhd

The counsel is responsible for delivering strategic advice and solutions, managing legal risks as well as drafting, reviewing and negotiating transactional documents in respect of the Bank’s debt capital markets and equity derivatives/broking businesses.Responsibilities:Render sound, effective and practical legal solutions and advice to stakeholders.Draft, review and negotiate documents and agreements independently.Provide legal support in the development of new products and offerings within Malaysia and other jurisdictions where the Bank is present.Work closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel.To identify issues and legal risks and provide proactive solutions.Keep abreast of legislative and regulatory changes affecting the Bank’s businesses and operations.Support the Head of Legal in the administration of the Legal Department and provide views/input on effective legal risk management for the Bank in Malaysia and other jurisdictions where the Bank is present.QualificationsDegree in law and a qualified advocate and solicitor in Malaysia.Wide exposure in legal practice or in-house experience in banking and finance, debt capital markets (particularly, leverage financing and acting as administration and security agent) and equity derivatives/stockbroking. Experience with ISDA documentation is a key advantage.Problem solving and strategic in thinking with strong analytical skills.Solid hands on transactional experience and ability to draft, review and negotiate transactional documents, commercial contracts and vendor contracts independently.Strong ability to identify legal risks, review and enhance documentation and processes.Firm grasp of, and familiarity with, relevant laws and regulatory frameworks governing the debt market and equity derivatives/stockbroking businesses.Good communication and interpersonal skills.Passionate about constant improvement and innovation.Self-motivated individual with excellent organizational skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
