What Can You ExpectMarsh McLennan Ireland is seeking talented individuals for an exciting opportunity for a permanent Legal Counsel role within its high-performing Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs team.You will become a member of the Legal Department supporting the Mercer and Marsh businesses in Ireland, working closely with local and regional colleagues in the wider Marsh McLennan business to provide a high-quality and varied legal service.The role will focus on a wide range of matter including commercial contracting, disputes, project and regulatory work in areas such as financial services, insurance broking, outsourced administration, consulting and trusts. While much of the work is focused on our Irish business, you will also have the opportunity to work on European and global matters.While you will be a member of a highly supportive and experienced team of 15 colleagues in Ireland (and more than 50 in across Europe) this role will suit a lawyer who is excited about taking on responsibility to manage matters independently and interact with colleagues at all levels within the organisation and with our clients.This role will report to the Chief Counsel, Ireland as part of a team of 15 in Ireland, within a larger European Legal Department.We Will Rely On You ToDraft and negotiate contracts and other legal documents with clients, vendors and third parties.Maintain a docket of active and potential disputes, guide investigations, set case strategy, negotiate settlements, and supervise external counsel.Be a strategic legal adviser on projects across the Irish business.Actively participate in development of new propositions and projects to respond to regulatory change.Provide advice on legal issues and developments, legal risk, relevant regulatory issues as well as policy drafting.Support ongoing regulatory initiatives across the business.Assist with knowhow, template and self-help tool development for Department and the business.Effectively prioritise work and manage time.
