ReOrbit is looking for an experienced Legal Counsel to join our growing team in Helsinki. As our Legal Counsel you will be responsible for overseeing all legal, regulatory, and compliance matters across ReOrbit’s global operations covering corporate, commercial, intellectual property, and employment law.This role is central to ensuring the company’s activities comply with applicable laws while supporting strategic business goals. The Legal Counsel will act as a trusted advisor to management, HR, and other departments, providing pragmatic and solution-oriented legal guidance in a fast-paced, international environment.It's an exciting chance to join a dynamic start-up, with the opportunity to make a real impact, to reach our goal of pushing the boundaries of space data transfer.ResponsibilitiesCorporate & Commercial LawDraft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements including customer, supplier, service, JV, partnership, and confidentiality agreements. Support corporate governance, board documentation, and subsidiary management. Provide legal input on strategic transactions, fundraising, and M&A activities.HR, Employment & People MattersPartner with HR / People team to ensure compliance with Finnish and international labour laws.Review, and maintain employment agreements, contractor agreements, and HR-related policies (code of conduct, confidentiality, etc.).Ensure compliance with GDPR in employee data handling and privacy practices.Advise on employee relations issues, performance management, terminations, and disciplinary cases.Advise on cross-border employment, secondments, and immigration matters.Regulatory & ComplianceEnsure compliance with corporate, space, export control, and data protection regulations.Maintain company compliance frameworks, including ethics, anti-bribery, and whistleblowing policies.Monitor legal and regulatory developments relevant to the business and advise management accordingly.Intellectual Property & TechnologySafeguard company IP assets in collaboration with technical teams and external IP counsel.Review licensing, technology transfer, and R&D collaboration agreements.Ensure proper IP ownership and confidentiality in employee and subcontractor arrangements.Risk Management & GovernanceIdentify, assess, and mitigate legal and contractual risks.Develop internal processes for document retention, contract management, and compliance reporting.Support internal investigations and audits when required.External Counsel & Stakeholder ManagementManage and coordinate work with external law firms and advisors across jurisdictions.Support investor, board, and governmental interactions from a legal and compliance perspective.Skills And RequirementsMaster’s Degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent). Bar qualification in Finland or another EU jurisdiction preferred. Minimum 7 years’ experience post-qualification, ideally from a mix of law firm and in-house roles. Strong knowledge of commercial, corporate, and employment law. Experience with cross-border operations, contracts, and technology/IP-related matters. Excellent communication, negotiation, and drafting skills. High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
