This Legal Counsel, APAC is primarily responsible for supporting and driving legal transactions for site selection and property acquisition activities across the Asia Pacific region. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting legal due diligence for each specific target market and instructing and coordinating with external law firms.Support on other general legal structuring, financing or M&A activities, and other internal compliance and regulatory requirements, may also be required.In addition to legal expertise and support, an essential part of the role is the coordination of and collaborative working with multiple internal and external stakeholders, in a number of time zones.Ideal candidates for this role will have an energetic, can-do mindset, and a strong transactional grounding in general corporate and/or real estate matters.Essential Job FunctionsSupport Vantage and be a strategic partner by providing practical, proactive, business-focused, solutions-oriented and sound legal advice that enables Vantage to achieve its business and strategic objectives whilst fully and appropriately managing legal risk.Provide comprehensive legal support to and collaboration with the business teams on all matters, including complex business transactions, governance and contract management and instructing of outside counsel.Be a key part of the Legal team in its delivery of high quality legal services and risk management, ensuring group-wide requirements are embedded in processes delivering Vantage’s acquisition of sites.DutiesResponsible for legal work and instructing of outside counsel where required.Structure, review, draft and negotiate of a wide variety of documents, including vendor contracts, sale and purchase agreements, amendments, NDAs and exclusivity and other agreements.Support global legal strategy for commercial contracts, including contract management and governance and maintain organisation of legal documents.Attend negotiations with the business and third party vendors, including land owners, landlords, real estate brokers and technical third party professionals.Assist with legal due diligence efforts.Develop and maintain knowledge of laws for APAC site selection, property acquisitions and development activites in targeted markets.Assist with preparation of standard forms and templates.Support the Legal and Compliance departments in ongoing continuous improvement initiatives and standardisation of working practices across the region.Skills, Knowledge & ExperienceMinimum of 3+ years post qualification experience with top law firm.Additional in-house experience is an added advantage but not a pre-requisite.Admitted to practice in a common law jurisdiction.Knowledge of Mandarin Chinese, Japanese or Korean is an added advantage but not a pre-requisite.Strong and demonstrated experience of running and managing transactions.Real estate / property acquisition / general corporate experience required.Experience within the data center or telecommunications industry is an added advantage but not a pre-requisite.Strong communication skills, including verbal and written comprehension skills. Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills and stakeholder management.Ability to work in a collaborative manner.Ability to analyse complex business concepts and documents.Flexible, adaptable and self-directed; able to work in a variety of circumstances; e.g. remotely, across multiple time zones, cross functionally, by project, etc.Successful candidate must be a team player, able to work with a variety of people.This position requires an organised individual with the capacity to handle multiple projects simultaneously, work well under pressure, and to prioritize work effort, all with minimal supervision.
