QPS Legal Services represents the Service before the courts, as well as the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal and other tribunals, in relation to matters such as discipline, discrimination, inquests and appeals.We also provide legal advice and executive support to the Commissioner and Senior Executive on a range of issues including contractual and partnership agreements, statutory interpretation and release of information.Your Key AccountabilitiesThe core capability requirements for this role are:Act as a legal practitioner for the Queensland Police Service.Provide legal advice to the Senior Executive concerning substantive law.Maintain and comply with the highest standards of professional and ethical conduct.Process and manage legal requests for disclosure served on the Commissioner of Police.Provide legal advice and assistance on statutory release mechanisms.Represent the Service in courts of law in the production of documents and arguments on privilege and sensitive matters.Supervision and staff performance management, as required.Role RequirementsMandatoryAdmission or eligibility for immediate admission as a legal practitioner of the Supreme Court of Queensland and enrolment, or eligibility for enrolment, to practice in the Federal and High Courts of Australia.QualificationPossession of a degree in law from a recognised tertiary institution, or equivalent qualifications.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Occupational group Justice & Legal
