To perform this job successfully, you'll be responsible for:
Leading targeted genotyping assay designs, identifying and implementing design improvements as requiredCommunicating with internal teams, including lab personnel, and external clients to understand project requirements, analysis needs, and potential challenges, effectively describing analysis results or issuesIndependently generating troubleshooting analyses and pipelines as requiredAnalyzing genotyping and other sequencing data; providing regular results and reportingParticipating in quality assurance procedures and project executionDeveloping, completing, and reviewing strategies to enhance data analyses and pipelines for efficiency and qualityCollaborating with the Bioinformatics team to develop and maintain shared analysis pipelines and processesPartnering with internal teams and external clients to coordinate the execution of pilot projects regarding new technologiesGuiding or supporting junior personnel within areas of business fieldStaying current in the industry by attending educational opportunities, conferences, and workshops, reading publications, and maintaining personal and professional networksSupporting business and customer needs by performing other duties as assignedQualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Graduate degree in bioinformatics, biology, computer science, genetics, or another related field — or an equivalent combination of applicable education and relevant work experienceProven work experience in the fields of bioinformatics, genetics, genotyping, molecular biology, or DNA sequencingPrior experience applying methods for analyzing short-read sequencing dataProficiency in the English language, including proven communication skills with a variety of audiencesPrevious experience with Bash and Python as well as other scripting languagesProven knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookPreferred Qualifications: Ph. D.
or equivalent experience in bioinformatics, molecular biology, genetics, or another related fieldFamiliarity using genetic data for phylogenetic and evolutionary analysesExperience with sequencing-based genotyping, variant calling, and targeted genotyping designPipeline development and code versioning experienceProven understanding of how sequence and genetic data are collected, analyzed, and interpretedKnowledge of experimental variables that impact DNA sequencing and genotyping approachesExperience working for a life sciences or biotechnology companyBehavioural & Interpersonal Proficiencies: Resonate and operate in line with LGC’s core value behaviors:
