The work location of this role is hybrid, meaning it will be performed both from home and from a LinkedIn office on select days, as determined by the business needs of the team. This role can be based in New York, San Francisco, or Mountain View. We are seeking a highly strategic and operationally strong Chief of Staff to join LinkedIn’s Growth, Performance & Operations (GPO) team within the Marketing organization.
This individual will act as a trusted advisor to the Vice President of GPO and the leadership team, driving day-to-day execution of key priorities while advancing the strategic agenda and narrative of the organization. This role will be pivotal in ensuring operational excellence through effective processes and a strong rhythm of business. The GPO team is made up of seasoned subject-matter experts with deep experience, bold vision, and an outcome-oriented approach, driving LinkedIn’s growth through best-in-class marketing, technology, and capabilities.
To succeed in this role, the Chief of Staff must bring a strategic mindset, operational discipline, technological curiosity, and strong communication skills. This includes learning the business and the team’s work in depth, identifying what matters most, and developing practical action plans that deliver measurable impact. A passion for technology will enable the Chief of Staff to understand and appreciate the team’s work at the intersection of cutting-edge technology and marketing — where art meets science.
Strong communication skills will be essential to develop a clear internal and external narrative that keeps the team engaged, builds cross-functional alignment, and demonstrates GPO’s impact on LinkedIn’s growth. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling highly sensitive information, challenging the status quo, and thriving in a fast-changing environment, all while inspiring excellence across the team. They will have a proven track record of helping teams excel through analysis, strategy, communication, and operational rigor.
As a key member of the GPO leadership team, the Chief of Staff will participate in strategy discussions, lead initiatives, manage planning and execution, oversee budgets, and communicate results. They will also collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Chief of Staff community to connect strategy, operations, and relationships across the global organization. ResponsibilitiesStrategic Leadership & ExecutionPartner with the VP of GPO to shape and drive the organization’s strategic agenda and narrative. Develop and implement practical action plans that deliver measurable impact. Lead key initiatives, facilitate business planning, and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Operational ExcellenceEstablish and maintain efficient processes that enable precision, speed, and effectiveness. Ensure disciplined execution and operational rigor across initiatives. Handle highly sensitive, confidential, and non-routine information with discretion. Team & Stakeholder EngagementCreate and communicate a compelling internal and external narrative that showcases GPO’s impact. Keep the team engaged, aligned, and focused on priorities. Build strong cross-functional relationships to secure support for key initiatives. Communication & CollaborationAct as a central connector within the GPO leadership team, facilitating alignment and information flow. Present results and insights effectively to stakeholders across the organization.
Innovation & TechnologyLeverage a passion for technology to understand and advocate for the team’s work. Promote innovative, tech-enabled solutions that drive growth and efficiency. Budget & Financial ManagementPlan and manage the GPO budget in alignment with strategic priorities. Monitor budget variance and make recommendations on resource and headcount allocation. Provide financial insights to guide decision-making and cost optimization. QualificationsBasic Qualifications 7+ years of experience in operations, strategy, management, program management, or marketing/communications. BA/BS degree or equivalent experience. Preferred QualificationsProven experience in strategic leadership, operational management, and communications in a high-growth, technology-driven environment.
Strong analytical skills with a track record of improving team performance through analysis, strategy, and operational rigor. Technologically savvy, with an understanding of how technology drives marketing and business growth. Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate impact, create engaging narratives, and inspire teams. Open-minded and innovative, with a willingness to challenge the status quo. Strong attention to detail and ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment. Financial proficiency, including budget planning, variance monitoring, and resource allocation recommendations. The pay range for this role is $142,000-$230,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
The total compensation package for this position may also include annual performance bonus, stock, benefits and/or other applicable incentive compensation plans.
