Linux Specialist

As Linux Specialist at GlobalConnect, you will help run the platforms that deliver live sports, concerts, films, and other large-scale events across the Nordics. Role DescriptionYou will work hands-on with Linux servers, both physical and virtual servers. Together with your team, you will install, maintain, and monitor systems, solve incidents, and improve performance. The role also includes proactive work to ensure uptime and smooth operations. You will collaborate closely with the network team to support high traffic streaming and content delivery services.Why this role matters GlobalConnect is the digital backbone of the Nordics and northern Germany. Our Content Delivery Network (CDN) handles traffic peaks in streaming and media distribution. Servers are placed strategically to keep content close to end users. Security, reliability, and compliance with GDPR are built into the service. As Linux Specialist in this team, your work ensures that businesses, public institutions, and private users can trust the stability and speed of our streaming delivery.ResponsibilitiesInstall, update, and maintain Linux servers (physical and cloud).Monitor systems, analyze networks, and troubleshoot issues such as DNS and SSL.Work proactively to improve platform stability and prevent downtime.Support the network team in delivering high-quality streaming and content delivery.Participate in on call rotation every fourth week in Stockholm.What You Need To SucceedProven experience (3+ years) in Linux system administration, managing both physical and virtual servers. This includes installation, maintenance, monitoring, and incident resolution. Handson experience as a System Administrator working with servers, covering installation, updates, troubleshooting, and maintenance.Proficiency in at least one scripting language such as Python or Bash.Driver’s license, since the role involves regular travel between data centers.Nice to have knowledge of networks, routing, and OSI model (CCNA or equivalent is a plus); experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Jenkins; database administration; experience with CI/CD and streaming platforms.Soft skills: teamwork, personal responsibility, and a structured, problem-solving mindset.The team and your growth You will join a small, collaborative team of four specialists plus your manager.
